Essay21 2,385
Brvy nearly cursed the Huskers last night, but we fought off his bad energy. At the casino cause I don't have anything else to do.
Napa_Don 688
How'd it go? I put a little money on bovada this weekend to play some blackjack. Ran it up a bit and cashed some out to bitcoin before I tilted (#RIP) and lost it all. And then it immediately dove. It'll be a nice little sweat anyways.
Essay21 2,385
Plus 905. Won a huge pot with a flopped flush and faded another club. Busted three guys on it. I had 74 clubs, one guy had kings, one jacks, and the other AK with the king of clubs. Flop was A 9 2 of clubs. Somehow they all got it in and I held.
brvheart 1,752
lol at the Jacks guy getting it all in with 3 clubs and an ace on the board.
BigDMcGee 3,352
Do any of you Iowa fellas have any hot takes on Terry Branstad? I live in Nebraska, and I don't know dick about him, really. He's been Iowa's governor my whole life and I'm stunned he's had 6 terms. Is Iowa really corrupt, and a Branstad-led political machine, or is he just a likable schlub that the Democrats can't beat? I have no feel for him at all, and the only people I could ask are either white trash morons with various levels of mental illness, or mennonites whose politics are just to the right of Mussolini
Napa Lite 3,278
Well, I think he's a piece of shit just based on his policies and I wasn't old enough to remember how he was his first go round as governor. We did have that stretch of vilsack and culver after he "retired" the first time. But the governor election is in off years so that doesn't help. Also, I think iowas demographics have shifted from 99% white to 97% white and that pissed a lot of people off so Iowa is super red now. Fvck 'em.
Napa Lite 3,278
I got a postcard from a county in Iowa that I literally only go through on the way to and from MSP > DSM saying I owed $100 fine and they'd be putting a warrant out soon if I didn't pay. I was a little worried that I had maybe got hit with some mobile speedcam or something but I looked up Iowa courts and it was supposed to go to a different Napa Don. I called and got it sorted out, allegedly, but I might need some legal representation if they don't. Can't have this lesser ND ruining my pristine record and credit history.
brvheart 1,752
I'm what most outsiders would call a hardcore conservative. (Not BG style, but whatever) The far majority of my conservative friends have disliked TB for as long as I can remember. They have viewed him as being liberal on many important issues, like taxes, abortion, etc. On the other side of the coin, most of my liberal friends also don't like him, because of public union busting, right-to-work, the fact that he's not in their party. However, there is a huge portion of the state that will continue to vote for him because there hasn't been a better option. Why do you ask? Wondering how he will do in China? Essay21 2,385
The Bank sent out a memo about it saying if clients call, essentially, tell them we had nothing to do with it and they have to call Equifax.
Napa Lite 3,278
I stopped at the liquor store to get the suggested whiskey and they didn't have either and when I asked about the bone crusher rye he's like "whoa, you really like the good stuff". Wasn't in the best neighborhood.

InternetExplorer 2,609
Setting aside the dumb TOS thing, the insider selling is kind of interesting. Human nature tells me they were aware, but who knows. The language of the articles made it sound like one of the guys was unloading RSUs, which takes no approval process, other than not being in a blackout period. So in other words, no administrative delay to point to, at least for that guy.
hank213 1,823
Yeah the stock sales certainly doesn't pass the smell test and the TOS thing is, unfortunately, pretty standard legal shenanigans for a large corporate entity in this day and age. However, I was mostly referring to their "checker" that is supposed to inform someone if their info has been compromised or not. It's basically worthless. There are confirmed reports of people who have checked their info more than once getting different results as well as people who have entered bogus info getting results saying the have been compromised etc. The optics are essentially that Equifax still doesn't know with any certainty who has been impacted even after over month since this has occurred. Also the whole concept of checking then being told to "come back later" for enrollment is just ridiculous. It's probably an attempt to meter server load to keep the site from crashing but they've had 30 days to prep for this demand, spin up some damn VMs and have your network team on ready stand by for ****'s sake. The problem with this breach over, say, the Target breach is that the data here is largely permanent. Credit card numbers are practically disposable compared to SSN so my identity can be compromised any time between now and several decades after I'm dead. If someone's PII has been compromised they have essentially been placed at elevated risk of identity theft for the remained of their life. So, if it turns out my PII has been compromised, any offer to me by Equifax short of a lifetime of free identity theft monitoring and protection FROM A THIRD PARTY is a non-starter. It's simply absurd that a large company whose raison d'etre deals in information security would get compromised then expect the victims to trust one of their subsidiaries and give them the same data. brvheart 1,752
Their response is going to be a case study in what not to do. Yeesh. You don't think a checklist of "sell our stock" and then "wait 2 months before telling anyone" was a good plan?
brvheart 1,752
What's the definition of insanity again? We need to get a pool going on when vb will just randomly show up in this thread complaining about this.
InternetExplorer 2,609
It's probably getting to a point where one has to keep credit inquiries frozen as the default, and only unfreeze briefly when you need a new account or whatever. It's such a pain in the ass for us when clients have life lock etc. but if the number reall is 143 million, what else is there to do? Like you said, it's permanent damage. hank213 1,823
My hope, slim as it may be, is that the market adapts quickly and adopts 2 factor authentication as being the floor of security not an added feature even for phone transactions. For example, if I were to call my bank to request service or information on my accounts they would not only ask me the standard security questions, which is usually last 4 of SSN, but then they also send some kind of code via email or sms. Yeah, it's probably going to be another way to disadvantage the poors but they better protect my money.
