Apparently, her roommate got into a fight with her girlfriend last night, speed off, likely intoxicated, and wrapped her car around a tree or light pole. She's in ICU now, and they weren't sure she's gonna make it. I just got a call from another friend that she's severed her spine at the 7th vertebrae, and will be paralyzed from the waist down. Fortunately, it sounds like she'll live.She's 24 years old, very bright, works at the same restaurant as Melissa, but also is going to medical school, and working as a Paramedic. So incredible how life can change in one stupid moment.Not that there can ever be a bright side, but fortunately, no one else was involved.I take some silly chances I'm sure when it comes to drinking and driving, and sometimes you feel invincible, and it's just not the case. I know it's a wake-up call for me. Please all be safe, and don't drive when you're either scathing mad or intoxicated.side note: I'm very worried how Melissa is going to handle this. I feel like I need to be there for her, but I can't fall into this relationship again. I'm going to go see her at the restaurant tonight, and offer my support and friendship (I told her last week now I wasn't in a emotional position where I felt like we could be "buddy-buddy" right now), but I feel like I need to put that aside at this point. Amazing how your life can change in an instant, 24 years old, crazy. You know Melissa was already going through it and this is just going to bring back memories of her brother and even though she kept you at distant before this may be some timing where she wants to pull you closer. They will play on the PP together. But, Staal is also a center. There is no way the 3 of them are going to continue to play center on line 1, 2, and 3. Something is going to change...when?
