McEwans Scotch Ale - Really good, but not one of my favorites. The high alcohol content might have something to do with this. Well's Banana Bread Beer - Was absolutely delicious. Like a wheat beer with a mild banana taste. Rogue Hazlenut Brown Nectar - Fantastic beer. Almost like a Newcastle with a slightly higher caramel taste. Arrogant Bastard Ale - Really Hoppy as stated. Like a Sam Adams on hop roids and I love Sam Adams. Flensburger German Pilsner - haven't drank.Boddingtons pub ale - def is a smooth beer but lacking taste. probably wouldn't buy again. looks alot like guiness (but lighter) when poured into a scooner.

The Bass & Co Brewery was established by William Bass in 1777 and was one of the first breweries in Burton upon Trent. Early in the company's history, Bass was exporting bottled beer around the world with the Baltic trade being supplied through the port of Hull. Growing demand led to the building of a second brewery in Burton upon Trent in 1799 by Michael Bass, the founder's son, who entered into partnership with John Ratcliff. The water produced from boreholes in the locality became popular with brewers, with 30 different breweries operating in the mid 19th centuries. Michael's son, another Michael succeeded on the death of his father in 1827, renewed the Ratcliff partnership and brought in John Gretton, creating the company of 'Bass, Ratcliff and Gretton' as it traded in the 19th century. The opening of the railway through Burton in 1839 led to Burton becoming pre-eminent as a brewing town. In the mid 1870's Bass, Ratclif and Gretton accounted for one third of Burton's output.[1]The company became a public limited company in 1888, following the death of Michael in 1884, who was succeeded by his son, another Michael, later Lord Burton. [2] Both Michael Bass and Lord Burton were considerable philanthropists with extensive charitable donations to the towns of Burton and Derby. Early in the 20th century in a declining market many Burton breweries closed down. The numbers fell from twenty in 1900 to eight in 1928. Bass took over the breweries of Worthington, Walkers and Thomas Salt.Bass was one of the original FT 30 companies on the London Stock Exchange when the listing was established in 1935.[3] Over the next half-century, Bass maintained its dominance in the UK market by the acquisition of other brewers such as Birmingham-based Mitchells & Butlers (1961), London brewer Charringtons (1967), Sheffield brewer William Stones Ltd (1968) and Lincolnshire-based Hewitt Brothers Limited (1969) (with the overall company being known as Bass, Mitchells and Butlers or Bass Charrington at various times).
By the end of the 20th century, following decades of closures and consolidation, Bass was left with one of the two large breweries remaining in the town. It also had substantial holdings in hotels, now owned by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). The Mitchells and Butlers name lives on as the company that retained the licensed retail outlet business when it was separated from the Six Continents PLC company (the successor to Bass PLC) in 2003.
Bass was a pioneer in international brand marketing. The Bass Red Triangle is one of the world's oldest logos and was the first trademark to be registered in Britain. The 1875 Trademarks Registration Act came into effect on 1 January 1876 and that New Year's Eve, a Bass employee waited overnight outside the registrar's office, in order to be the first in the queue to register a trademark the next morning. In fact Bass got the first two registrations, the first being the Bass Red Triangle for their pale ale and the second the Bass Red Diamond for their strong ale.Bass are the main sponsors of Bristol Rugby for the 2006/07 season and so the red triangle logo appears prominently on both the home and away shirt worn by the team.

This is my favorite Pale Ale and the beer probably most drunk by college students in Northern California, especially in Chico where it is Brewed.There has been many a drunken nights with SN most of them camping in the Sierra Foothils near So Lake Tahoe and some of them ending in night swimming, not necsissarily by choice.El Guapo's rating 8/10

The first Red Stripe was brewed in the Surry Brewery in 1928 as an ale style beer that was too heavy to suit local preferences. The current lager formulation was first produced in 1938 from a recipe developed by Paul H. Geddes (the son of founder E. P. Geddes) and Bill Martindale. The modern brewery was opened at Hunt's Bay in 1958.Beginning in 1976, Red Stripe has been brewed under license in the UK by the Bedford based brewers, Charles Wells[2]and is packaged in 484ml aluminum cans[3]. An empty 12 oz. bottle of Red StripeIn 1985, the brand was first imported to the United States with poor initial results. With an eye towards the success of Heineken, Red Stripe for export was packaged in green standard 12 oz. bottles. American consumers exposed to Red Stripe through their travels to Jamaica as well as Jamaican expatriate were reluctant to try the brand in the States since it was not packaged in its distinctive squat brown bottle and painted label. This marketing issue was resolved only to have shipments temporarily suspended in January 1989 due to marijuana smuggling in shipping containers discovered in the Port of Miami[4]. Red Stripe recovered and rode the popularity of dance hall reggae in the early 1990s to well over a million cases of annual distribution. Red Stripe is a significant sponsor of reggae, ska, and other music events, including the annual Reggae Sumfest hosted in Montego Bay.In 1993, 51 percent ownership in Desnoes & Geddes Limited was purchased by Guinness Brewing Worldwide, now Diageo, an acquisition that has significantly increased the international distribution of Red Stripe and Dragon Stout. This one may piss of Chris, but I like it. This is a good summer beer. It almost got a fruity after taste. Kind of the effect we get with corona and lime, with out having to add the lime. I like to drink it out on the boat or near the pool (when I'm not having Mai Tais).El Guapos rating 6.5/10

A lot of things get lighter in warm weather, and beer is no exception. Who drinks winter lagers in July? Show me a person who strolls into an August heat wave and says, " Boy, a Guinness would hit the spot right about now. " Which is why, in the universe of Mexican beers, Negro Modelo has gotten short shrift compared to, say, its plain-Jane brewed cousin, Corona. But surprisingly, it’s actually a perfect time to break out this crisp, full-bodied beer. It’s deeper and more complex than Dos Equis (or Sam Adams), and its malty, slightly chocolate flavor offers the right counterpoint to a spicy mole sauce — or even just chips and salsa — on a humid day. Don’t be surprised if it’s hard to go back to watery lager afterwards.
This was quite hard to find information on this beer. But it is by far my favorite Mexican beer. It is a darke beer, but still tastes great with a lime. I usually get this at a Mexican Resturaunt if I am going to get beer. A couple years ago, my wife and I were down in So Cal meeting some of her axtended family who are all Mexican. I felt like Mathew Perry on fools rush in. I was the only white guy there, everyone was warning me about the salsa (I probab like hotter food than all of them considering I have eaten whole habenors before) any way it was funny. And just like you would expect they were drinking tons of Coronas. After hours and hours, we ran out. So one of her cousins and my self ran to a local store and I bought a case of Negro Modelo, they had never tried it and they fell in love with it.El Guapos ranking 9/10.

Good beer. My buddy got married 2 miles from the brewery so we picked up a few kegs of this. By the end of the night the bride hated me (more than she did before the wedding) for my best mans speech. I spun a 5' 2" 120 man around on my waist like I was Will Ferrell to his Chris Katan in Night of the Roxbury and I had probably some of the best hotel sex with my wife I've ever had. So the beer is top notch in my book.El Guapos rating 8/10

Day 19:Chimay Brewery:The Chimay Brewery ("Bières de Chimay") is a Belgian brewery founded inside the abbey Notre-Dame de Scourmont, in the Belgian municipality of Chimay in 1863.[1] The brewery produces three widely distributed ales and a patersbier exclusively for the monks; they are known as Trappist beers because they are made in a Trappist monastery. The brewing plant was updated in 1988, and now produces 120,000 hectolitres annually.[2]Since 1876 the monastery has also made cheese, and currently offers four cheeses.[3]Chimay Rouge (Red), 7% abv. In the 75 cl bottle, it is known as Première. It is a dark brown colour and has a sweet, fruity aroma. The malt in this beer has a nutty character that goes well with the hints of pepper from the house yeast. Chimay Bleue (Blue), 9% abv darker ale. In the 75 cl bottle, it is known as Grande Réserve. This copper-brown beer has a creamy head and a slightly bitter taste. Considered to be the "classic" Chimay ale, it exhibits a considerable depth of fruity, peppery character. The taste continues to evolve and develop with a few years of age, and is extremely popular with the Belgian population. Chimay Blanche (White), or Chimay Triple, 8% abv golden tripel. In the 75 cl bottle, it is known as Cinq Cents. This crisp beer bears a light orange colour and a very bitter taste, and is the most hopped and dryest of the three. Chimay Dorée, 4.8% abv ale, brewed from the same ingredients as Red, but paler and differently spiced. It is intended only to be drunk at the abbey or at the nearby inn Auberge de Poteaupré which is associated with the abbey. The monks themselves drink this variety rather than the stronger three. The Dorée is not sold commerically and the rare bottles which make their way out are through unofficial sources. Even the brewery's own web site makes no mention of this variety. Chrozzo's Rating: 8.5/10Chrozzo's notes: I love these beers. The Red is by far my favorite and the most smooth. Obv better on tap than bottled. Day 20:Unibroue BreweryUnibroue is a brewery located in Chambly, Quebec, Canada that was started by Quebec native André Dion. It was bought by Sleeman Breweries Ltd. in 2004. Sleeman was then purchased by Sapporo in 2006. The company was incorporated in 1993, and has grown exponentially since then. They began exporting their beers to the United States (under the name "Unibrew") in 1994. La Fin Du Monde.Unibroue makes a wide range of beers, although there is a focus on Belgian-style brews, such as their Maudite ("Damned"), La Fin du Monde ("The End of the World"), and Don de Dieu ("Gift of God"). Most of Unibroue's beers are bottled "on the lees", or containing yeast sediment. This practice provides additional fermentation after bottling, resulting in a beer which ages well if kept in the dark and unrefrigerated, and allowing it to be relatively cheaply shipped to international markets. The yeast gives Unibroue beers a cloudy appearance and provides a characteristic element to the taste.Chrozzo's notes: These are the best beers to come out of Canada imo. There are several varieties, yet the only 2 woth talking about are the Le Fin du Monde and the Trois Pistoles. Both are very smooth and amber in color. If i remember correctly the Trois is a bit darker in color yet lighter in taste, despite being a bit strongert in alcohol content. I know alot of fancier restraunts have there own wine experts (sommelier's (sp?)) but one should hire Chrozzo as there beer expert(insert some fancy title). He really seems to know his stuff and is truly passsionate about beer. Of course they will have to cut off his employee discount after about a week.

Day 21:Gulden DraakBrewed in Belgium by Brouwerij Van Steenberge N.V.Gulden Draak is a dark brown Triple Ale, which makes it an exception among the Belgian Triples. The second fermentation offers the nice creamy head, the full body and all the vitamins of the centuries old brewers yeast. It is a "thick" beer, that you can actually "nimble" to adventure the complex taste. Gulden Draak balances a natural malt toffee-like sweetness with a mellow happiness and some hoppy accents. The aroma is round, sweet and reveals the 10.5 alcohol by volume. Another name for this type of rich beer is: "Barley wine". You sip and enjoy this beer slowly, probably as a dessert, or as a treat you definitely deserve. Holland International Beer Festival - Haarlem 1995: overall winner - best beer.Silver medal in the International Beer Competition: Chicago 1996.Silver Medal Dark Ales.at the California Microbrew Beer Festival 1995.FOOD-COMBINATIONS: Dessert-beer after dinner. Or just before bed. Some like it with a cigar, others match it with chocolate.Sealed from light in the white painted bottle, which is recycled as candle-holder. You can age the Gulden Draak for many years, just like wine.Alcohol Content: 10.5%Chrozzo's Ranking: 10/10CHrozzo's Notes: This is a VERY smooth beer. First time I had it was at the Apalachian Brewing COmpany Abbey bar in Harrisburg, PA. All belgian beers there. I had it first from the bottle, but later had it on tap at Max's in Baltimore. Better on tap, as most beers are. If you plan on driving do NOT even have one. Not that one will get you drunk, but mostly due to the fact that you cant stop at one. This is truly a masterpiece. CBO: Chief Beer Officer. Some hotel chain had an open position as the CBO where they would visit different places trying to teach people about beer and get unique taps in different settings.
