Nah, starting at step 4 isn't too bad. The problem with them is that your money gets raked like 32000 times before it gets to the final satty. I posed this example to Grinder the other night-Say you play 20 215 step 4s. You buy in for 4k and pay another 300 in rake. You win 6 of those (3/10, well above neutral of 2/9) for step 5 tickets. You then play the step 5 tickets for 4020 in value and another 180 in rake. You win 2 of those (2/6, well above neutral of 2/9) for step 6 tickets. You now have 4000 in ticket value and another 200 you will pay in rake.So of this, your value went from 4300 bought in to 4k in ticket values, and you paid 680 in rake. And you ran well above neutral.I think it was a 2p2 post a long while ago that discussed what crappy value the step sngs was, but it mighta been here. If I remember right, the value of a low level step ticket was something like 3.44+4.56, or something like that.

Sweet, made it through the step 5 when a horrid donk calls a pot sized all in bet with Q 2 on a 9 x x 2 board and his opponent has the 9, and the river is a 2. I'll take it and let you know how the step 6 goes.

1 - OK, but what about the times you don't win, but win a seat to the same step you just played or another one? That will happen a good portion of the 14 times you don't win the first one and the 4 times you don't win the second one. These have to be included in the value somewhere. 2 - And I'd have to sit and think about this more, but I don't see why you are double raking anything. I played in one step 4, luckboxed, one step 5, luckboxed, and now will play in a step 6. And I've payed $15 in rake. I'm pretty sure I'm wrong about this point but I will need it explained to me like a third grader on why. EDIT: I am getting this already the more I think about it. The money I am playing for when I get to the next is not in the prize pool for that step...3 - Also, Step six is a $2100 buy in so that should read $4200, correct? Subtle, but noteworthy.

1. Yeah, there's obvious value in those. But you are basically losing value every time you win a seat to the same level-If I play a 25+2 satty, win a seat to another 25+2 satty, you've "won" a $27 prize that allows you to pay another $2 in rake. How very nice of them.2. You're thinking of each win as winning a ticket that has a fixed value-ie, you win a 215 satty and you've won a $700 ticket. In all reality, you've won $670 in value and another 30 you get to pay to allow them to let you play a $670 satty. Once you have played the 2100 satty, you will have paid $215 in cash, won 2800 worth of prizes (700+2100), and used those prizes for 2670 in value, plus 130 in rake.3. It's 2000+100.

when i saw the steps were back i got excited and plunged right into the first 500fpp and have had a smooth ride to step 5 which i havent attempted to play yet. I was going to this mourning and was registered, until i saw roothlus and hevad khan sign up. That's when i swallowed my pride and decided to give it a run another time. Not that those guys really scare me or anything just figure i could find some better players to play against. This is the first live event im really going to give a run at winning a seat. I like the fact that every1 is forced to play and that you cant sell your seats anywhere along the way, its makes for a really soft field. Hopefully ill be back here sometime soon to saying im taking a shot at step 6. GL all.
