Ron_Mexico 4,238
Exactly 7 and a half hours from just outside of Orlando to just outside of Atlanta, in case anyone was wondering. Oh essay, whiskers, brv, et al on Wednesday's Lebatard show, Dan's last segment, when he read that Bull Bar review, I was laughing so hard. Whoever wrote that was pretty great. "The Gateway to Regret" is just a fantastic line. I'm putting this the Lebatard thread, not that anyone reads it.
Sickinfo2 291
new C7 I suppose you already own one though. Today my oven heating element snapped when the wife was baking, causing a minor family collapse, mixed with firemen and cops. the fireman on site said that we would need a new oven. That's crazy though, right? I can just replace the element for like $20. Any problems you foresee? Electricity frightens me. Although Ive not seen one up close yet, my conclusion at this point is four fifty eight ripoff. Bunch of Ferrari lines on it. Kinda spoils it for me I look at it like this... they went to all the trouble of making it look all Italian but still have the overhead valve pushrod engine stuffed in it. Sorta the same as buying a lamborghini kit car and building it on a VW chassis. They headed in an altogether different direction than I would have liked. I would have liked to see a retro sixty seven much like the camaro platform did. Offer a three ninety six for the base and the four twenty seven stingray package. Retractable hard top. Plus a stripped down stinger for real enthusiasts. All carbon fiber and sparse interior. No heat/noise insulation, traction control/computer assisted nannys/auto or paddle transmissions. Three pedals only on them babys I doubt Ill ever buy another new vette. The o-six I had was ok but after the initial honeymoon it didnt get driven much at all. Good traveling rig. Sorta boring corner carver Did they douse it with water or something? Unless the thermostat or its relay got stuck and toasted the element you should be able to change it out and be good to go.... Sometimes the broiler element is the same as the oven one. Just swap them out. If the oven works correctly buy a new one and put it in. Turn it on and watch for the element to cycle on and off. If it stays red constantly the thermostat circuit is faulty and the fire guys will be back.... The wife wanted a natural gas oven but wound up with electric. Way too many recipes she has that are extremely flammable
ShakeZuma 586
The drug companies have spent a lot of money to spread the physical disease metaphor of depression and have been so successful that this point of view is now basically unquestioned by the public. I think its a dangerous mistake based on a total misunderstanding of the relationship between the mind and the brain. Depression is a condition of thought and behavior that can (and ultimately must) be changed by changing thought and behavior. Drugs can create temporary relief from the symptoms, but if the habits of thought are not changed, you're going to either be relapsing or staying on drugs indefinitely. Cognitive behavioral therapy (learning to systematically change one's thoughts and behaviors) is effective for depression for this very reason -- you're treating the root of the problem. It is more effective than medicine for depression across a large number of studies. It is not equivalent to "just deciding not to be depressed". It is very difficult. But the evidence shows that it works. Teaching people that there's nothing they can do about depression except taking drugs is a) false and b) detrimental to everyone's health. signed, your friendly neighborhood psychologist

iTommyGavin81 289
Over the last 3 to 4 months I've completely stopped taking a dump once during my entire 24 hour shift. I'm typically a 2-3 a day'er. I had no emotional trauma occur that would squeeze up my colon. I don't understand. Then every morning when I come home I take the hugest crap. Every morning. To the point where I'm worrying if I need to get an industrial flusher to handle it all. So weird. I'm currently filling the toilet to the brim as I type this. My schedule worked out beautifully. My 4 day fell right on Friday, Saturday, Sunday Monday. Big weekend of drinking planned.
Napa Lite 3,281
I don't know, Ron. It might just be that with my non smelling abilities every burger just tastes the same to me. No idea. But it is nice rolling your own burgers and cooking them over charcoal. And I do have friends I could probably talk to, but in my low self-esteem having ass way I don't know why they would care and its almost narcissistic to think but I don't want them to worry about me and possibly make them feel bad (as if I had that power, which is where the narcissism comes in). It's dumb. I know.
NickCave 194
I don't think we're disagreeing substantively. The thing about doing exercise is that its more than it seems -- it's doing something thats good for you and the decision to do that carries its own power that can start a domino effect of other similar decisions. It's a bit of a foot in the door just like the drugs are. Maybe Randy was being flippant but its actually decent advice that he gave. Again, aside from the running part. That may actually increase likelihood of suicide. You're still missing the point that we (me, Essay, Shake, et. al.) are trying to make. Randy was saying "it's simple. Just go for a run." That is not the same as "running can help." Add that to all the other "just do it, depression is a character flaw" nonsense, and the depressoids are understandably irked. The advice was not decent. The depression stuff is making me suicidal. Or just not want to come on. One thing that does surprise me, and maybe it's your ages, but how do you not have one friend in this world that you can talk to about anything? That shocks me. I probably have more than one, could tell my mother anything. Maybe I just don't have manly hang ups and am an open book. I think it's better that way. I yam who I yam, all the time, for good or bad. 100% Strat coined a good one with "Clinically D'd" It's not an easy conversation for many people. It's tantamount to asking for help, which is always difficult. That you have friends and a other who would gladly listen and provide counsel is awesome. I'm the same way, buti know people who honestly don't believe they have those options, or find them so horrifying as to be non options. Regardless, maybe some people take comfort in discussing those problems here, with people whose opinions and advice they respect. That being said, despite the thread being hyperactive the past few days, you have sufficiently shamed me with your threats of suicide/thread abandonment, so I'm giving myself a 2 day minor penalty for GIVING RON ABSOLUTELY NO CHOICE BUT TO TALK ABOUT SOMETHING THAT MILDLY ANNOYS HIM. Ionly hope you can one day forgive me.

Tiltinagain 977
What are the rules about getting lippy with Tilt? Same as Randy? Is Tilty a made man? Can I get a ruling on this? have at him. Right. Never bothered me before. I get what you're saying about the subject but I do think you're oversimplifying what Randy said. He wrote a damn novel and your only take away was "It's simple, just go for a run". Which isn't all he meant or all that he said. Anyway, we all know that all you all need is more confidence and all your problems will be solved. So do that.
Essay21 2,387
I really need to vacuum out my car. Maybe wipe her down with a Clorox wipe. A nice wash and she'll be looking brand new. brvheart 1,768
This info from the guy who recommended the forum upgrade? No thanks. I'll stick to Nick Cave. haha. That's for sure. What were you thinking, vb!? I googled "Daniel Negreanu gay depressing" and this was the first result. I googled "Is Daniel Negreanu gay" to find this place. True story. I hope they're the spicy mcchickens. I could eat a million of those and was both happy and sad that I discovered them on a trip to arizona years ago because they were not available in my area. But McD's finally wised up and brought them to me. Every single Thursday I get 3 spicy McChickens plain with cheese and no bun. Add hot musturd. They are magnificent. ps. I've lost 73 pounds since the end of Feb, so don't judge me. (FYI, my first ever cheat night is scheduled for tonight. I'm having pizza.) Growing up we raised steers, pigs, lambs etc... for the freezer. (Best meat you'll ever eat BTW) If you got a whole steer you would have 400 plus pounds of cut and wrapped meat. So, yes, you'd be swimming in meat for a year. You get a LOT of the good meat from a whole cow. I can't remember the details on the pig... but I think you end up with 4 (or maybe 8) racks of ribs, obv 2 whole tenterloins, and/or a LOT of pork chops. http://www.winddance...ying- Whole.html Really? Why would I take HIS advice and shove it up MY ass? I'll tell you what. You can get a good look at a butcher's ass by sticking your head up there. But, wouldn't you rather to take his word for it? No. What I mean is, you can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking your head up a butcher's ass... No, wait. It's gotta be your steer. What are the rules about getting lippy with Tilt? Same as Randy? Is Tilty a made man? Can I get a ruling on this? haha. No. No such rule exists for Tilt. I'll bite. What do you think makes it better? Lack of hormones? Grass fed? Organic? "lack of hormones." Good one, Ron. Don't believe the lies of the anti-GMO/pro-Super Size Me crowd. Hormones taste wonderful. Did they douse it with water or something? Unless the thermostat or its relay got stuck and toasted the element you should be able to change it out and be good to go.... Sometimes the broiler element is the same as the oven one. Just swap them out. If the oven works correctly buy a new one and put it in. Turn it on and watch for the element to cycle on and off. If it stays red constantly the thermostat circuit is faulty and the fire guys will be back.... The wife wanted a natural gas oven but wound up with electric. Way too many recipes she has that are extremely flammable They didn't use water, as the fire extinguisher had put it out before they got inside. I'll swap the elements and check it. Thanks for the idea. Should I put electrical tape around the soon to be loose wire ends of the broiler element or can they just dangle free?

vbnautilus 49
You're still missing the point that we (me, Essay, Shake, et. al.) are trying to make. Randy was saying "it's simple. Just go for a run." That is not the same as "running can help." Is that really what Randy said? Let's go to the videotape. People think they are their own conscious which is laughable. Your conscious has two people or sides, think of them as the angel and devil, or whoever (Mastt Damon vs Brittany) and they are both constantly whispering in your ear what to do. It's important to recognize that and talk back to them. Don't ignore them. If people aren't looking at you like your crazy then you are doing it wrong. One says, "Go get some KFC!" You have to realize that the mother ****** doesn't have your interest at heart and is a mean bastard laughing as you gobble up buckets of grease. He's like the scorpion that stings the frog because it's in his nature. Really, it's just our evolutionary self telling you do the things that you need to survive, eat, breathe, masturbate etc.. But it doesn't have a governer to control the amount of horsepower. You have to do that. And really the only thing stopping you from doing most things is yourself. The reason most don't run is because their brain tells them to stop, not because they can't physically do it. Recognizing that is how you overcome it. You turn off the voice, tell it you are not going to do that stupid shit, and eventually it goes away and comes back to nag somewhere else. That's really how I quit drinking. I rarely urge the urge to imbibe any more, but I know that if I do it's no big deal. And really, the best thing for depression is eating and exercise, but you are probably too depressed to take that up. You have to think long term though and remember a dream is only over if you achieve it or you give up. That's also called irony. Listen to what the great greek of lumpy tennis shoes has to say, "Just do it!" And really, do beans or I sound depressed? No. Do we seem crazy? Of course. We're like Yoda laying out the blueprint for you young pups. Get busy. Ok nevermind, I have no idea what he was saying.
