My random playoff pbservation of the day: Playoff OT when you are playing the Boston Bruins sucks

You have my sympathies. There must of been 1000 Emrick "incredibles" by now.

I've learned to just tune him out and run my own commentary in my head. That's the only way I can handle 42 calls of "DRIIIIIIIVE!!!" per game.

Hits the post with the shhoooot!

2 players 1 team left for me. Iginla deserves a ring and so does Alfredsson. I know as a Leafs fan I can't cheer for Alfredsson but the guy deserves a ring.

The team and the fans that I like to see win is SJ. Of all the relocation and expansion this was one city that embraced hockey from the start.

year 3 really did it. being a horrible team the first two years and then making the playoffs was one thing. Beating the Wings was another. Coming one post away from the Conference Finals was something else. Actually the Wings series was the bigger deal.

I was with two other people in my house last night watching the game and we were all just looking at each other when play continued like "we all saw that go in, right?"

I was at this game actually. A decent atmosphere but the Chicago crowd wasn't very loud to be honest. Maybe the acoustics hurt it. I was cheering on Chicago while wearing my Sharks t-shirt but I was secretly rooting for Detroit.

Fenxis: <insert comment about Orpik>

Everyone else: <insert comment about me being homer>

fin.

But the experts last night said it was a clean hit because your guy was already falling. Didn't you state on the last incident that you go by what the experts day so...

As an unbiased opinion, I thought Orpik meant to hurt since he knew Neil was falling down.

Right away when he hit the boards I thought dislocated shoulder (don't know the results). He looked fine walking down the tunnel however.

I think I feel sorry for him. I guess at least there were a lot of wins and playoff games. Imagine being a fan of the Cleveland Browns and having this memory.

If winning were the only thing true fans cared about then teams like the Chicago Cubs, the Toronto Maple Leafs and, I guess, the Cleveland Browns wouldn't be as popular.

The last Stanley Cup won by a Canadian team was 20 years ago. Canadians still seem to enjoy the playoffs.

I wouldn't feel sorry for him. He obviously enjoys it and it doesn't seem to be having a negative impact on his life.

Also, I think there needs to be a significant amount of good in order for heartbreak to be possible.

My twitter feed is exploding with complaints about the refs in the Det/Chi game. As I saw it once: do they change the size of the strike zone in the world series? So why the insistence on putting the whistles away and "letting the players decide".

Didn't watch much of the game but the disallowed goal was pretty bad imo. By the rule it was the right call but it was still pretty weak. I don't have any rooting interest but I hated seeing the ref make that call there.

I think the calls were bad for both sides. Sea rook got away with a blatant penalty early. The disallowed goal was bad but they made up for it by not calling the penalty on the chi player who hit franzen from behind which resulted in a goal. The late call on Keith was super weak. But as usual people think the Wings get away with everything and poor Chicago was screwed. Oh well. Up 2-1. Don't give a shit. We outplayed them and they has plenty of power plays to get back into it. By the third period they had 4 and we had 1.

People like this are so interesting to me. Why is his brain able to retain so much more information than the rest of ours? Wish we were better able to study/understand brains. Can you imagine if everyone had that kind of memory/recall?

Agree. Find this stuff fascinating, and wish I could have such skills.

Whats not fascinating and interesting to me? The NHL playoffs. Its May, its 27degrees, Ive checked out for all intents and purposes. If it wasnt for mild interest in pools, and mild interest in a couple of futures bets, I wouldnt even care at all.

The NHL Season needs to start in September and end mid-May at absolute latest.

Agreed..

I cant get into it...Especially after the disastrous way the Leafs ended the season..However if tonight was game 3 of the Leafs series, I am sure I would be more than excited about hockey in June..

You should have done what I did. Only watched maybe 4 full reg season games. Now I'm into hockey. Obv it helps to have your team in it but for me it's like the season just started.
