DJ Vu 176
You should go the all-star game. Or home run contest. I saw that the all-stars were announced yesterday, but didn't even bother to see who made it. All my favorite players are pitchers now, I think. I don't even know who my favorite position player is. Hmm, that last paragraph isn't a very good selling point for the first paragraph.

Essay21 2,387
yeah they did. at the expense of the top position prospect in baseball. my question is, if we can add payroll, why not buy some pitching on the open market, keep myers and improve in two spots?
mrdannyg 274
yeah they did. at the expense of the top position prospect in baseball. my question is, if we can add payroll, why not buy some pitching on the open market, keep myers and improve in two spots? He's probably only the second or third best position prospect in baseball. He's also major-league ready at the position they are most desparate to upgrade. There have been reports that a lot of other MLB execs like this deal for the Royals. While acknowledging they are smarter than me, groupthink is also very common among those folk, and their commentary have pretty much all said something like "well, Moore's job was on the line, so I like the deal for KC." As a fan of the Royals, casual or hard-core, I would hate this deal violently. Hell, even as someone who doesn't give a crap about the Royals, I hate the deal. The Royals were building a fun, interesting core of young guys with Cain, Giavotella, Escobar, Butler, Moustakas and Hosmer. Sure, things haven't been exactly going as expected with a lot of the pitching struggling, and Moustakas/Hosmer playing down. But the time was not now and the Royals are still miles worse than the Tigers. Writing should've been on the wall when Chris Getz was starting over Giavotella and Francoeur was getting re-signed, but this is just a sickening deal to any real Royals fans. Essay21 2,387
sadly it has become clear that dayton moore should be in charge of the draft and someone else (me) should be in charge of the major league team.

NickCave 194
first place. royals bitch. I thought the Myers/Ordozzi for Shields/Davis trade was fairer than most analysts and fans did. Firstly, I am a huge Wade Davis fan, and secondly, I truly believe mediocre teams should consciously exit the rebuilding phase by gunning for a .500ish season. It makes the GM (or whomever the decision maker is) more capable of making good, sound short and medium term decisions. I thought the Tigers did it pretty well by overpaying for Magglio Ordonez and Ivan Rodriguez. It gave Dave Dombrowski a chance to evaluate his team, and consider a post-season berth relatively likely if he could add 5-10 wins, which is just so much easier to plan for than a situation in which you need to add 20+ wins to have a shot.
