Sickinfo2 291
Yeah, I can't make a list either.... Mex and I could tear down any bar we entered. Cops would arrive, I'd charm and bribe our way outta it. He'd pick up the tab. We'd arm wrestle over it and I'd win Jubi, guap, and I would swap marriage stories, get all depressed, and end up in the plane headed to Vegas. Chris would already be there. I'd assist with divorce proceedings Strat would be a perfect straight man, randomly spewing halarious statements regarding nothing of the subjects at hand Sally's true colors would show when the rest of us tanked him up and lured random women to the twenty one table. He'd need an additional week recovery for a penis skin graft Napster would keep up for a while and found later upside down in a drainage ditch wearing a tilted kilt outfit Whiskers would document the proceedings and inform us of the weekend activities.... Speedy could sew us back up I'll add more when I can see straighter
The Ocho 972
Drinking Guinness Stout right now. Forgot how much I love the taste of this beer. Impossible to get drunk from though. Last 2 weeks I've eaten so so and drank a good deal and maintained weight. Once this beer is gone back to sobriety for some duration of time.
InternetExplorer 2,620
napa's been worried about nothing for years I just left the two month govt job off of my resume and led with it when they asked about my work experience. it was pretty easy to explain and sound reasonable, but then again, they had everyone in the place telling them to hire me. hank213 1,824
1. Napa 2. Tilty 3. Stratty 4. Hanky 5. Chrozzo The rest of you can go to hell. ok I'll actually try. if I forget you it just means that you're inconsequential and I don't like you. 1) beans 2) mexico 3) tgavin 4) hank 5) jll 6) speedz 7) rhinestone 8) brv 9) ocho 10) napa 11) essay 12 strat 13) everybody I forgot last) whiskers I'M NUMBER 4, I'M NUMBER 4, I'M NUMBER 4!!!!!!EXCLAMATION!!!! Oh SHIT, Hank is number 2 with a bullet. Keep in mind, I'm also the guy that used to work with a really cool woman about 8 years ago, sort of kept in touch, saw her and her husband, who I sort of knew through friends, at a wedding and hung out with them all night and got a ride home, and then they moved up here, I saw them at Sam's Club, vowed to meet them for dinner, never followed through, and then Saturday, saw them walking into Sam's as I was walking out, so I stopped talking and walked the other was, so not to be noticed I'm a coward Ron, I think we should make one of those pacts like the nerdy guy and his gal pal do in the movies that if they aren't married by a certain age they'll marry each other. Except, given that we're both decrepit old farts, our pact will be to go to the same retirement community. We'll be the bad boys of Del Boca Vista.
ShakeZuma 586
You'd deal with making less money the same way you did when you made less. You'd tell people that the management wasn't giving you the training and tools to be successful and, being somewhat of a perfectionist, you just couldn't deal with not being great at what you did. So you're looking for a company that will value the experience you have while also providing the training for you to continue to build and develop your skills. this all sounds pretty good. might need to remember it for myself, if I ever get another job interview (not likely). companies, at least the ones I've dealt with, always treat you like a job hopper if you haven't been at your last job for 10 years. every interview I've ever had the interviewer would ask something like "so you've only been with [company name] for 3 years, why is it you want to leave?" and of course you can't say "because they're assholes and don't pay me anything." of course titly's advice is only good if you get the interview. lots of places won't even look at you if you've only been at your current position a short while. I know several in my area that won't look at you if you've got any short term (i.e. less than 5 years) job stints. might be different elsewhere, I don't know, but I know that's one of the (many) reasons why I won't be able to get a decent job/career. along with being stupid. One of the only good things about getting older is you finally get to the point where you just don't give a damn what other people think. All of this is good, but your first sentence is absolutely spot on. I was going to write this the other day regarding women and getting turned down or worrying about being with an "ugly" girl or whatever. I was probably the same way at 25 or 30. Actually, I know I was. But at 40v you're so right. Who gives a flying fck what anyone thinks? Girl turns me down or thinks I'm an ahole? Maybe she's right, or maybe it's her loss for not paying attention to my shit. You guys and blow it off, but eventually, you will stop caring what people think. The sooner you figure it out, the better you'll be. I'm not saying not to dress yourself or comb your hair, I'm just saying be yourself and put it out there, and the rest will be good. yeah both of these are very wrong. the older I get the more self conscious and pessimistic I get. see you guys think that because you were naturally self conscious when you were younger but still had a decent personality (yes, I know I just said that about tilt, but stay with me here). but that's the kicker, it only works if you're an enjoyable person to be around in the first place. the self consciousness fades and people end up liking you more. but if you don't have a good, personable personality in the first place, then it just snowballs. you get more self conscious, people like you less, which makes you even more self conscious, etc. etc. etc. years of rejection has to have an effect on a person. Ron_Mexico 4,238
Without trying to sound too nice here, what makes you think you have a shitty personality? You're a fan favorite here, that takes wit and humour. How does that not translate in real life? No homo
iZuma 766
well I think my track record with friends, girls, and jobs speaks for itself here. you can't fail at everything without first being a pretty miserable person. plus people tell me I'm boring all the time. and really though, I'm a fan favorite here because of all the dumb shit I say and do plus all the stories of how shitty my life is. that doesn't translate very well to real life. entertaining here, depressing when you have to watch it firsthand. iZuma 766
see? imagine if somebody told you all that in real life. you'd probably punch them. hell I probably would.
Ron_Mexico 4,238
Meh, i guess you have a point. Congrats on being awful. I would like to aay that i have a bigger loser job than you. I may make a little more money, but my pay isnt commesurate with my time in the field, and worse than that, I have to talk to people all day. I'm a classic underachiever

InternetExplorer 2,620
the "why did you leave" question is intended solely to sniff out the retards who will say negative stuff. I really think you are wrong about the job hopping in general. loyalty/longevity isn't even in the conversation here, and I wouldn't expect it to be at any large organization. iZuma 766
who is "you"?
Napa Lite 3,281
Yeah, I don't think job hopping is that big of deal anymore. I know many friends who are on their 3rd or 4th job after graduation. I had one friend who's been laid off twice already and has a job lined up to start in April after getting laid off in mid march. And he's one of the dumbest people I know. Aside from Shake, of course.
iZuma 766
probably has a lot to do with market. ie bigger the city, the less important it is. I just know around here you're a job hopper if you change companies more than like twice in ten years and some places won't even talk to you.
Napa Lite 3,281
Good News...Jesus Christ has risen! Just kidding...my computer is fixed and I didn't have to hear anything about it from dick manager. Bad News...I forgot my lunch at home in the fridge and my bottle of water and now I have to go home for lunch. Ugh. Yeah, I know, I could also skip lunch but its only 9 and I'm already starving. Napa Lite 3,281
Also, my $50 shoes I've been wearing for work the past two years are dead. I need a new pair. Shake, hit me up with something for under $100. Maybe a brown and black pair.

InternetExplorer 2,620
really, the spammer is complaining about someone else's posts? I mean I'm sure he's talking about shake there. his posts are indeed of DREADFULLY poor quality and taste. the HR lady emails to tell me that the Skype interview is off, that a senior partner said they have to hire people for the advising track. I am not going to pretend to want to advise for the purpose of moving cross-country for poop money. so oh well.
Ron_Mexico 4,238
Only 12 year old girls and faggots use the expression "TMI" Napa, are there not places around where you work to go eat out? Shake, I think you're crazy about the job hopping thing.y buddy essentially worked for 6 banks in 10 years, heck, he want back to two of them twice. Seriously, his resume is this: i'll abbreviate the bank names: Citi FSB Citi CityNat BofA PNC IBE And I'm not kidding when I say, I think I'm missing one. After my 5 years at Circuit City, I did 3 yrs at one bank, 3 years at Citi, 2 and a half at FSB, 3 and a half at GFB and now 2 and a half where i am now 5 banks in 13+ years
Napa Lite 3,281
There are places but its not much further for me to go home and get my lunch. I just don't like leaving.
iZuma 766
I mean this is stuff I've heard directly from hr departments and hiring managers. I'm not making it up. like I said, it could vary from market to market and I'm sure industry has something to do with it but "job hopping is bad" has been my experience. of course maybe people are just telling me that so they don't have to give the real reason they won't hire me: stupidity and unlikability. Tiltinagain 977
After my 5 years at Circuit City, I did 3 yrs at one bank, 3 years at Citi, 2 and a half at FSB, 3 and a half at GFB and now 2 and a half where i am now I don't think I remembered you had worked at Circuit City. I worked for a competitor in CA for about 3 years called The Good Guys. Similar store but no appliances. Made good money there for being 24/25. There are places but its not much further for me to go home and get my lunch. I just don't like leaving. I don't like staying at work for lunch. Need to get out of the office for a bit to shake the cobwebs out. It must be market or industry based. Pretty much anything over 3 years is considered decent longevity out here. When I told people I was at my last job 8 1/2 years they acted like I practically retired from the place.
brvheart 1,768
FOUR SPOTS BEHIND BRVY JESUS CHRIST FRIENDSHIP OVER I QUIT. Suck it, Loser. I put you #1 because you make it your responsibility that everyone has fun. I really love Mex for that reason. You can tell he genuinely cares about others, and I love that. I think Essay has a little of that in him as well, actually. Hi Shake. http://youtu.be/4EC7P5WdUko I'm seeing it because of BP... but that trailer had WAY too many spoilers. Also your humidity sucks. Florida loses because of this. The humidity was as bad as Iowa, and that's really bad.

iZuma 766
oh, and napa, only old man and black people shoes are under $100. if you're willing to spend ~$200 on a decent long lasting nice looking pair of shoes, I can help. if that's too much, just get whatever rockport has on sale. but really, aren't you outside a lot with your job? if that's the case you probably don't even want nice dress shoes and the rockport jab might actually be more realistic.
