MapleLeafpoker 1,462
I think maybe we swung the pendulum too far, overcorrecting, but that really remains to be seen. agree. Its ok if the pool was restarted, but when there are quite a few teams with Sedins, Zetterbergs on 5year $2 deals, it kind of makes it ridiculous when the guys drafted 10th overall are $3 to start and must be resigned for $4.25/$5.25/$6 because they were the 45th best fwd in the AHL's games. serge 904
My farm team in the NGFHL...Some of the guys arent drafted yet: Alesander Barkov Adam Erne Josh Morrissey Kirby Rychel Jt Compher Jacob Delarose Anthony Duclair Zemgus Girgensons Scott Laughton Joseph Morrow Vladislav Namestnikov Brock Nelson Stefan Noesen Derrick Pouliot Rasmus Ristolainen Nick Ritchie Mark Scheiffele Jordan Subban Sergei Tolchinky Some of these you may not heard of , 5 of them are projected to be first rounders in 2013
Fenxis 99
It also definitely puts a premium on late round drafting, which is pretty much even no matter where you finish... tanking not rewarded as much, basically. Interested in upping the starting salaries of draft picks and/or flattening out the lottery win %? [fchl]

Zach6668 513
Interested in upping the starting salaries of draft picks and/or flattening out the lottery win %? [fchl] Not really. I like everything about the FCHL right now. If it ain't broke... I say we stand with exactly what we've got right now for like 5 years, minimum, and see if any long term issues arise, but I doubt that they do.
mrdannyg 274
In any event, he was either a 2nd or a 3rd rounder, because his base salary was $1. I think you guys are thinking about the trade that sent JVR to Mike. Biatch, who did you get back in that one? Doughty? Did you ever have Doughty? It was a big time d-man, I'm pretty sure. Probably. MapleLeafpoker 1,462
If I trade a good/great farm keeper in one of my pools, I get the following improvements: O'Reilly becomes Eriksson (I need goals) Mueller becomes Backes(usually grt pims) Barrie becomes Wideman G,A,PTS, PIM,+/- I need goals+pims This is really a trade to solidfy my team, get proven commodities to help me keep my lead. Do you see a big/decent win for me in that 3 for 3?
Zach6668 513
Are you saying you need to trade an additional keeper in order to improve those spots?
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
yes Id rather not say who the keeper is until after I see if others think its an improvement. Ill give my reasons why after your helpful advice.
Zach6668 513
That's fair. I gotta run a delivery, but will likely have an hour to kill when I get back. I'll take a looksie. Not familiar with non-point totals for any of those guys.
digitalmonkey 929
I don't think I like that trade.
Zach6668 513
O'Reilly becomes Eriksson (I need goals) Mueller becomes Backes(usually grt pims) Barrie becomes Wideman I guess contracts come into play, if applicable. Eriksson is better than O'Reilly, but not exactly having a good year. I'd call that a wash right now, maybe. Don't really know how O'Reilly will score, but he'll get more PIMs. Since it's a keeper, I like his age better long term, but I know you're trying to win now, so that's a small factor in my thinking. Backes > Mueller. Mueller is fairly useless overall. Backes having a bad year, but will get you PIMs regardless, and should start scoring more eventually. He'll get more than Mueller in any event. His +/- has to improve. Wideman > Barrie NOW. Barrie probably not going to get a lot of chances this year, but if you ask Bob, projects to be a monster offensive guy down the road. Wideman isn't the hugest upgrade, but at least you know he'll be in the lineup every night. I don't know. I don't really think you're upgrading enough to give up an extra B+ to A- farm keeper. MapleLeafpoker 1,462
Ya, the one thing about Eriksson+Backes is that while they are expiring contracts, they are cheap, and can fit into my cap. The players Im giving up dont have good contracts, he would be doing it all to get.....Drouin, who is on my farm. Its a hard trade to make, because based on the first half, not much win for me. But based on last years stats, quite a nice win in the categories I need most right now, and thats pims+goals. This is the big $ pool, so I dont care about giving up Drouin if it means I win, but I dont have the sense this trade helps me enough, unless Backes+Eriksson quickly become 11-12 Backes+Eriksson. Also, I have a substantial lead, which makes me wary of making a deal until I need one, but I dont want to miss out on Eriksson+Backes, who if I dont get, will most likely end up with the team in 2nd or 3rd place. (thanks)
Zach6668 513
Yuck. Feel like you could keep a very good shot at winning this year, while keeping one of the best prospects anyways. I wouldn't be too worried about Backes, Eriksson, etc going to a rival team... it can't be that much of an upgrade for them, can it?
Dubey 1,035
Backes is having a bad year but is probably a top 15 player in a g/a/p/pim/+/- league in most years. He is almost always one of the more undervalued players in that format. If he turns it on in the last half it is a huge upgrade. However, in a short season, I find it is really hard to make up ground in roto style scoring, and I prefer not to trade the future for upgrades that may not even get you a point in the standings. If it is a head to head league, I'd be much more inclined to make the trade.

MapleLeafpoker 1,462
A few buddies+I were out a couple of years ago around Christmas time, and just on a whim, decided to do a Stanley Cup winner pool. There was 5 of us, so we just chose 6 teams each in draft order to see who would win the Cup. Earlier in the season the better, but if anyone wants to do something like that just for bragging rights or small amount, I'd be in for that too. Fun way to have a few teams to root for and we could do this right now.
