InternetExplorer 2,620
She can be completely wrong about everything she's ever thought ( she is a woman ) but that doesn't change whether or not inflation will rear its ugly head. That idiot Krugman recently said we should try to create lots of inflation to reduce our debt.what's the timeframe for inflation? in the real world, it costs a lot of money to bet on these things and be wrong for this long. if you go back and read responses to what the fed was doing in 2009 and even earlier, you'll see a lot of these articles written with conviction, comparing us to the weimar republic, etc. doesn't matter how long these people are wrong, they're still gonna come back and tell us that we should have heeded their warnings years ago, when listening to them would have definitely put us in a deflationary spiral. FCP Bob 1,323
deflation or deflationary spirals? Not the same thing are they?Deflation of any kind is basically bad. Moderate inflation is very good and provides the lubricant for relative prices to move efficiently.
akoff 0
Deflation of any kind is basically bad. Moderate inflation is very good and provides the lubricant for relative prices to move efficiently.both are bad when out of control. by printing trilions of dollars and supporting out of control spending you are going to create out of control inflation...of course that will hurt the poor bastards that democrats control the most. just another example of how democrats are poor peoples worst nightmare...not that should shock anyone or that they would believe it. strategy 4
inflation inflicts mild pain on certain groups of people. deflation in the context of 2008 means the collapse of modern finance, far-reaching government intervention everywhere, and a grinding halt to economic activity. the fear over that kind of deflation is what brought the financial markets to a standstill, brought on all the job losses, etc. etc.if I could rewind time and call the shots, I'd save lehman and find a completely new group to run it. the fact that they were so ridiculously fraudulent in their accounting is one of the major reasons why they weren't saved, but we didn't realize how destructive it would be to let them die, and obviously how thoroughly shitty everyone else was once we started taking a closer look. hblask 1
I've always bought into the "deflation is bad" line, but the more I read the less sense it makes. The history of humankind is to get more stuff with less effort -- and that's basically what deflation is. Upon closer inspection all the claims of why deflation is bad fall down. They myth of the deflationary spiral is just that -- a myth. At least, it would be with real money. With fiat currency anything can happen, of course. But there is basically no evidence in history that a natural deflation cycle in a commodity-based currency leads to long term harm. From the time we were founded to the time the Fed was formed, we had slight deflation, yet it was the most productive time in our history.

timwakefield 69
It is ludicrous that the Republican party is against gay marriage. Shameful too. Mostly shameful, in fact. I've never even heard a rational argument for it. "The Bible says so" is retarded on like 15 different levels. "Marriage is/should be between a man and a woman" is a non-argument. And those are basically the only arguments made by people who oppose it, other than "boo fags," which is blatantly irrational.
