Mickelson is going for the win ...Also i have Bryce Molder in the final group one shot back.Mickelson was erratic yesterday, spraying the ball all over the place, however he kept recovering and saving pars.Very experienced leaderboard with most of the guys with at least one win under their belt..Should be a fun Sunday finish..Back to back wins havent been accomplished since 2009 when Tiger did it last.GO PHIL GO

Yeah, he goes nutso during all tournies, especially majors and WGC events. I stopped following him. Saw him live here a couple years ago. Unreal funny. Did an extra long show cuz he's from the area, I assume.

Went golfing with some buds yesterday, we all suck pretty bad, but it was pretty fun. I just had a question if some of you could maybe help me out. I only started last year, so I suck. On my drives, I can get it up, not very far, but I can atleast get it go in the air. My only problem is that when I hit with my driver (and only my driver, not the woods or irons), my ball is always hooking or fading (not sure what the difference is), from right to left. I shoot left like Phil Mickelson. I don't really care about driving it further yet, I just want the drive to go straight. Does anybody know why I keep hooking/fading it? At first, I thought it was that I opened up the face of the club too much during my backswing, but then I fixed that. Then I tried keeping my shoulders square, but it still hooks. Any ideas?

Yeah, you're slicing it. Every golfer ever does that when they first start.Could be a bunch of things. The club face not being square is one, the other is you're coming across the ball from the outside. Try to imagine the club head coming in a straight line, parallel to your feet. A slice is caused by it coming from outside to in (ie, coming across the ball). Take a few practice swings focusing on figuring out the path of your club head and then try to get a feel for coming in a bit straighter. If you want another way to visualize it, think about the spin that is put on the ball when you come across it... it creates side spin, and that's what creates the slice. So you want to hit it straight forward and put no side spin on it, of course. The thing about slicing the ball like that, is it also just rapes your distance. It doesn't go nearly as far when you're slicing it. I spent like 2 seasons just aiming way to the right because I couldn't fix my slice when I was younger.

Makes sense, thank you, I'll try that. I might hit up the driving range early tmw morning before the gym to try that. I didn't know there was three golf courses just across the Champlain Bridge in Quebec like 45 seconds behind my place. So sick. Something else I noticed too, atleast between my friends is how underrated chipping is. Might just be between me and my 3 friends, not sure if it relates to other people. None of us are mediocre, we all suck, nobody is clearly better then the others though. The one girl though, she couldn't drive it as well as the rest of us, but she could chip it from the fringe or within like 40 yards form the green so much better then us. And it made a huge difference. Her chip shots would always be like within 7 ft of the hole, and be like 2 putting at worst. While the rest of us rarely hit it that close to the hole on our chips, and would 2 putt at best, usually 3 or 4 putting because we suck balls.

Improving your short game is the most important thing to improve to save strokes.Imagine you're a guy who shoots 100, you're probably taking probably 40 shots from around or on the green. Take away some 3-putts, get up and down more consistently, and you're pretty close to a 90.

For sure. Also how do you smoke cigars. My buddy Greg doesn't smoke, but he likes to smoke cigars when he golfs. I tried it. They were tasty, but I was hacking up a lung. How do you smoke cigars when playing golf?

Don't inhale. Just puff on them and you'll be fine.
