CaneBrain 97
Bosh is definitely more valuable than Wade even though Wade is definitely the better player overall. This is due to the fact that Bosh gives the Heat's offense diversity and his defense is underrated-----against a team like the Lakers with good frontline size it is even more glaring. (look at what Bosh did to Gasol in the previous 3 Laker/Heat battles). It's also partly because the Heat have great back-ups at the wing (Miller/Battier/Jones are all competent) and sorry, sorry depth on the front line.Would it have been awful if Lebron had taken a 19 foot fall-away against a double team? No. Kobe has done that his whole career with some success (despite his rancid clutch stats) and no one cares. Why? He has RINGZZZZ and Lebron does not. However, my guess is that any serviceable NBA player is better on a wide open shot than Lebron is on a double-teamed fall-away.My biggest concern is not that Lebron shies from the clutch. It's that the media will convince him to try and be a hero instead of playing the game the correct way. The whole point of having a big 3 is to make the other team defend all 3 of you always. The whole point of setting aside some money to get Miller and Battier and re-sign Chalmers is to use them if they are open. No one gave a shit when MJ passed to Paxson and Kerr for championship clinching shots because they made them. It's a nonsense argument to keep asshats like Skip Bayless and Jon Barry employed. This is all moot imo, anyway. If Bosh is there, they probably crush Utah and it never comes up. DJ Vu 176
Would it have been awful if Lebron had taken a 19 foot fall-away against a double team? No. Kobe has done that his whole career with some success (despite his rancid clutch stats) and no one cares. Why? He has RINGZZZZ and Lebron does not. 5 seconds or less, to tie or take the lead.In the last three seasons, Kobe is 9 for 19 including 5 for 12 from 3PT for an effective FG% of .605. Lebron is 0 for 11 including 0 for 9 from 3PT (that's an effective FG% of zero if you do the math). There are all kinds of different ways to define clutch, which is why it's so easy to shade the results towards Kobe or Lebron, depending on what you want. The Kobe game that I point to is against Orlando down 6 with something like 30 or 40 seconds left. Kobe hits two threes in a row, but misses a 3rd attempt at the buzzer and they lose. Clutch or not clutch? Started clutch, but didn't finish clutch? Lebron's 4th quarter against Utah was definitely clutch, but how much of it counts in the clutch stats?I think it's an area that stats won't ever fully capture, which unfortunately leaves a lot of subjective nonsense getting more validity than it deserves. CaneBrain 97
I wasn't saying that to hate on Kobe. He was the 2nd biggest part of 3 rings and the biggest part of 2 rings. I'm just saying that some guys take the contested jumper there (Kobe, Wade, Melo), some guys pass (Magic, Lebron), and some guys could go either way (Chris Paul, MJ). Hollinger has made a big deal about how bad Kobe has been in the clutch overall and it didn't change my opinion of Kobe one bit. These are made up arguments.I'll take the open jumper every time. Though, I am starting to worry that Haslem is on a rapid decline. Luckily, it will be Bosh taking that shot usually.
DJ Vu 176
Kobe will make the pass sometimes. I trust Derek Fisher more than anybody else on that team to make the big shot, which sucks because he's not good anymore at any other time.
brvheart 1,768
I think it's very possible that LeBron has that same anxiety disorder that Royce White has.
CaneBrain 97
I don't know who Royce White is.I do know that Lebron hit mammoth late 4th quarter shots against Boston and Chicago in the playoffs within the last year. So, if he has a disorder, it only appears to flare up sometimes.
brvheart 1,768
I don't know who Royce White is.You will!http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball...lege-basketballHe was just selected to 1st team all-Big12 this weekend, and he has a major anxiety disorder. If I was the other team, I would be giving him holy-hell every time he stepped to the line. I'm not saying it's true, but I think it's possible that LeBron has some sort of similar issue, which affects him when things are on the line.
CaneBrain 97
Sounds like what Ricky Williams had.Lebron has already had numerous great clutch moments in his career.....this is something that didn't even start until the Cavs/Celtics series in 2010. No, he isn't MJ in the clutch and he probably never will be but that's why MJ was voted the greatest athlete of all time in ANY sport. It's not easy.
brvheart 1,768
I don't think having an anxiety disorder would prevent someone from ever having "clutch" moments. Royce has already had a ton of clutch moments. I'm just saying it's a possibility. He may actively avoid putting himself in a situation where he may fail because he can't handle the possibility. And, you're right. It's the same as Ricky.
CaneBrain 97
Ricky Williams actively avoided any and all spotlight off the field. Lebron is nothing like that. He dances pre-game. He courts celebrity. He doesn't have anxiety. He has the 24-hour sports news media in his head a little bit. Same thing happened to A-Rod. He wins one title and all of this nonsense goes away; I like his chances to end this stupid narrative this June.

DJ Vu 176
If the playoffs started today...(1) Chicago(8) New York(2) Miami(7) BostonI need either Chicago and Miami or Boston and New York to switch places. These match-ups are great for the first round, but Miami-NY and Chi-Bos would be fantastic.(3) Orlando(6) AtlantaFamiliar.(4) Philadelphia(5) IndianaThis would probably be the most competitive while simultaneously being the least compelling.(1) OKC(8) MinnesotaYES. If these two teams meet in the playoffs, we could have a rivalry develop between two good, young teams. (2) San Antonio(7) DenverThis would be pretty good I think.(3) Memphis(6) DallasDallas would probably be the popular "upset" pick, reversing their role from last year- holy shit, Memphis is a 3? When did that happen?(4) LAC(5) LALoh my god
FCP Bob 1,323
Things are getting ugly in Laker Land with Kobe pissing off Gasol with his selfish play and Mike Brown being Mike Brown which means he can't control a superstar.http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-...-144531785.htmlIf the Lakers do play the Clippers it'll be an interesting series. The team with the worst Point Guards in the league against the team with the worst 2-Guards in the league. Vinny Del Negro vs Mike Brown for who is a worse coach.

NBA Trade MachinePau to Houston.Kyle Lowry to Phoenix.Steve Nash and Luis Scola to LA.This trade is successful!Phoenix gets younger and cheaper with a good PG.Houston, um, gets Pau Gasol.Lakers get a decent replacement for Pau while wildly upgrading at PG.Let's do this!I probably need to get a PG back to Houston.Houston can have Andrew Goudelock too. Darryl Morey says he likes to take a lot of fliers on young players hoping one of them hits; let's sell him on this guy.Flyers or fliers?
