How did I know I'd see this here? The true shocker is that it's not some random dude on twitter. This is after someone's written an article, taken the time to think of a "catchy" headline and then gets signed off by an editor before it goes live. The world with think much worse of this than Jeremy Lin (who I imagine has heard about everything) but it's truly amazing to think a professional writer for a global sports media source could make such an obvious mess.Wonder how long it will be until we see a "Lin nips the XXX" headline

Yup, it's pretty amazing how stupid that headline is on many levels.I would love to be Lin's agent. He's going to in rake in 8 figures per year off the court now with his popularity in China and Taiwan and of course New York.

There is going to be an angry Derrick Rose when he realizes Lin will be the starting PG in next year's all-star game. There will another angrier PG (likely Deron Williams) who won't even make the game as a reserve.Watch for John Wall to light it up in the Rising Stars challenge -- he's pretty motivated after getting picked last by Barkley and skipped over completely by Shaq who selected Lin. Just Kind of ironic (re: Shaq) considering he was pissed off when Yao got the starting role in his rookie year over the Shaq Daddy.

I was just thinking. People are going to be crying about future Asian players getting voted by the monster population advantage of the Far East.Maybe the solution is to have America vs. World instead the East/West battle. If nothing else, it actually may be more competitive. The SG/SF foreign players aren't that strong (literally in terms of strength) but I don't think it's that bad either. Off the top of my head:C: M. Gasol, Hortford, BargnaniPF: Nowitzki, P. Gasol SF: Gallinari, Deng SG: Ginobili ,Batum PG: Nash, Rubio, ParkerIt's not as sexy as CP3, Wade, Kobe, Durant, Lebron, and Dwight but with all-star level of defense this is a lot more interesting IMO

I don't think US vs World would make the all-star game more competitive. The games have actually been better lately anyway, so I don't see a need to change things like that. I still want them to choose up sides though. It would be fun to see Lebron and Wade on opposing teams again. That Thunder-Nuggets game last night was nuts. Durant and Westbrook combining for over 90 points! Ibaka with a triple-double with blocks. And it takes them overtime to win it at home. I love Andre Miller. Can't shoot, can't jump, not fast or tall...and yet somehow still a quality NBA player.

I love him too.It just shows what having a great mind for the game can do if you're a point guard.

You know what really sucks? This writer (and the announcer who said it on the air) just made a completely honest mistake. If anything, it shows that those guys weren't thinking in terms of race at all, and they wouldn't even think to associate that phrase with the recial slur. Someone (more important than me) should be mentioning the fact that in some ways it's a very good thing to see.

Shaq has no problem being a complete hypocrite, as evidenced by his comments on how a dominant center shouldn't leave Orlando for greener pastures.

Really? If by "competitive" you mean "close", then maybe, but they certainly aren't competitive in terms of players actually giving a shit and playing hard. The problem with US vs World is that World won't have enough players unless the voting is changed, right?

That's the way it used to be. The game still has its moments of showboating, but these guys care about winning. Posts from last year's all-star game:
I loved the 4th quarter. Too bad both teams couldn't have been playing well at the same time, though, but still fun to watch the intensity in the comeback. In the Olympics Kobe naturally became the guy to close out the gold-medal game when we weren't really sure who would do it, Kevin Durant kinda did the same tonight. Naturally. Organically. Pretty fun to watch.
BS: "This LeBron performance reminds me of Game 5 of the 2010 Eastern Finals, only the exact opposite with the exact opposite stakes."

obviously this pau trade talk has my mind frenzied with possibilities. so let's throw some out there. my roommate (the spurs fan) suggested this:lakers get: manu ginobli, kawaii leonard, 1st round pick 2013 / Spurs get: pau gasol, 2nd round pick 2013, 2nd round pick 2015.ANOTHER:lakers get: josh smith, kirk hinrich / Hawks get: pau gasol, steve blake. ANOTHER:lakers get: steve nash, grant hill, 1st round pick 2013 / suns get: pau gasol, darius morris, 2nd round pick 2013ANOTHER:lakers get: kevin martin, gorin dragic, marcus morris / houston gets: pau gasol, steve blake or darious morrisoh man i really hope they trade him. the lakers need to be shook up. big possibilities here.

I don't know if any of those are very likely.I saw a story that said Derrick Rose was suggesting to management that they try to get Pau by offering Boozer. So I guess Derrick Rose would be that guy in fantasy sports. I think the best hope for LA is a three-teamer. Maybe get Houston involved in a deal to bring Deron Williams here since Houston seems to want Pau. Although if LA could get Lowry and Scola somehow, I'd happily take that too.

yes i left out chicago because nobody wants boozer unless deng comes with him.i dont know if anyhting is likely. but i've read that josh smith might want out, so there's that. we know houston is intrigued. and the spurs one is interesting. the suns one is just kind of for funzies, because nash deserves better. and if the lakers are looking to shed salary, as reports indicated, such a trade would certainly do so while not completely killing any chance to win.perhaps utah could be approached. devin harris and one of their PFs for pau. i dont know. it just seems like this is going to happen, and specualtion is half the fun.

Atlanta has been inexplicably shopping Josh Smith for years now. I'm not sure it makes the Lakers better. Is Heinrich that much better than Blake? I want a PG upgrade more than anything else. Thank you, Derek Fisher, for hitting countless huge shots, but you kinda suck now.

i'm not sure if smith/hinrich make the lakers better. but it saves them money and that might be all that management is after at this point. if you could get atlanta to give you jeff teague that would really be sweet, but i doubt they'd be stupid enough to do so.the key in all this is, to me, is if the lakers are looking to dump salary, can they do so without sending kobe into a murderous rage?yeah the spurs deal is one i would do for the lakers every time. the rest i pause a little.
