serge 904
Hey Ovy,I know you are going through a lot with personal issues in Russia, and possible injury that you arent being public about..But please wake up and show this league who is boss..We dont want no Penguin leading the league in scoring..Thanks
Zach6668 513
That reminds me, you've stopped doing your little daily updates on the league leaders in the Pens thread...

dEv~ 19
ill get to it..he is droppingMalkin and Crosby are good but it's tough to score points when you haven't played since Saturday. (They each got 2 points in that contest)1st in the league and tied for 4th still is decent though right? I think it's better than having the top two scorers on a certain blue and white Canadian team that are 57th in the league.
Zach6668 513
(Check the penalty box for this one. )Some of the quality is crap, it was all just from my gf's Blackberry (fu Balsillie), and when you zoom in, the resolution sucks.

Zach6668 513
I actually noticed this during the game. At one point he had his hands covering the blade and the knob at the same time, with relative ease.
serge 904
Congrats to Ovy for being named one of the three stars of the week..The guy is just an amazing talent. He is the best player in the NHL by far....He will win all the major trophies this year, barring injury...Should score 60 goals.Last night against the Leafs, he scored an empty net goal, however he was visibly upset that he couldnt get the pass over to his teammate who had a shot at a hat trick...He was apologetic on the bench..The guy is true class and talent all rolled into one. I was watching the game in a bar, and I was pissed he didnt pass to Laich. I had Laich playing for me last night in the FCHL, wanted Brooks to get his hat trick. My friends said that was too hard a pass to make, and I said if he is indeed the best player in the NHL, then he has to find a way!!!
Zach6668 513
I assume Don Cherry will blast him on the next Coach's Corner.

serge 904
The game was hyped between Ovy and the Pens.....Ovy came to play ...Ovy scored two goals....The Caps won handily...The Pens fell deeper into the abyss..They are battered , bruised, injured and depressed...Ovy had a lot too do with it..Dont mess with Alex the Great...Number Eight....You know who to hate..GO OVY
serge 904
Congrats to Ovy for his 50th tonight..Also has 3 pts to pass Coosby..To put into perspective, Gretzky in his best year had 50 goals in 39 games.

Because the year he scored 215 points was the year he had 163 assists.
Zach6668 513
Nice pre-orchestrated celebration, you class A douchebag piece of shit. This league needs more Yzermans, Sakics, Francis'.

If I wanted over the top celebrations, I'd go find T.O clips, or watch soccer.

If I wanted over the top celebrations, I'd go find T.O clips, or watch soccer.I mean, I don't care how much he celebrates most of his goals. I don't care if he runs into the glass and does that thing with his glove off, whatever. It only bothers me when it's a meaningless goal, and when shit is pre-rehearsed. That's just bush league. If I'm playing on Tampa tonight, I'm probably suspended for a couple games. Not quite Dale Hunter material, but I'd have definitely decked him. Remember when TO was a 49er in Dallas, and Emmitt Smith decked him when he tried to go celebrate at the 50 yard line... I would have done that. And really, he's gotten 50 goals every year, it's not even like he wasn't going to do it this year and put up a hat trick in the last game. 50 should really be a foregone conclusion with his talent and skill set, so I'm not buying any of the "milestone" talk either. He's done it 3 out of his first 4 years. (wtf happened to him in his second year? all of his stats actually went down, heh)

Whats worse over celebrating and showing emotion, or whining or crying and diving? While that comment will seem like a typical stupid anti Crosby remark by me, its the perception among Crosby's "haters".I like Ovechkin's celebrations. I also like T.O s endzone celebration.Ovechkin did nothing to rub it in or make fun of the other team. Tocchet was upset obviously, but maybe because he never had the talent to score 50 goals in the NHL.
fryer98 30
Remember when TO was a 49er in Dallas, and Emmitt Smith decked him when he tried to go celebrate at the 50 yard line... I would have done that.It wasn't Emmitt, it was George Teague. How did you NOT know that? haI didn't know who it was, but I knew it wasn't Emmitt.Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway, as you said, I don't mind his emotional jumping around after scoring, but this was obviously planned....''He told me he was going to do it,'' said Capitals defenseman Mike Green , who scored his 26th and 27th goals. ''He wanted me to join in, but there was no way I'd join in on that. I just kind of stood back and let him do what he does.'' Tampa Bay coach Rick Tocchet was upset about the unsportsmanlike display.''I think he's a terrific player. He went down a notch in my books after that,'' Tocchet said. ''It's not something I like. It's hard for me to accept, to see something like that in our building.'' Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau said he planned to speak to Ovechkin.''He celebrates, but I think that was a little planned out,'' Boudreau said.

serge 904
What's worse is when one doesn't realize they need to change their ways and it only gets worse.....while the other realizes it and matures. The knock on Ovechkin is that he celebrates too much. The knock on Crosby is that he whines and cries(this maybe unwarranted but thats the general knock on him)As a fan of the NHL, especially casual fans, what Ovechkin does creates excitement and intrigue. The old school guys like Cherry obviously hate it. You need more guys like Ovy to sell the game..Flash, speed , excitement and just overall fun. He doesnt cheapshot anyone, he doesnt really mock anyone, he is just having fun. They promote stuff like that in the All star game, and when he does it in a game they are all anti fun all of a sudden.Well the guy has 213 goals the last 4 years..Who else does in the NHL? gruven 530
Alex Ovechkin's celebration was in large part inspired by Don Cherry......
