I wasn't talking about size of the field of play, just as an effect to how long an inbound play takes. The exception for soccer is corner kicks though, since they are one of the best scoring opportunities teams generally take their sweet time getting the ball in play.
no i was talking about the size of the field of play - the field is so big that nothing ever happensits like a boxing match where the two guys are fighting in a ring the size of a football fieldi liked indoor soccer oknow how add am i

You didn't finish college, what's he supposed to think?

I remember Jalen Rose talking about taking money once. Like, people become outraged and act like it's a bunch of greedy assholes ruining the integrity of the game, but even if you have a problem with

Indoor soccer is the greatest sport in the world. Last time I played I lead the league in penalty minutes... I had a horrible habit of checking people into the wall while running full speed.

isn't that basically the only reason to play recreational or intramural indoor soccer?

Whats the difference between penalty kicks and sudden death overtime in football, other than its more exciting.
The difference is they're actually playing the sport to see who wins, instead of a contrived contest.

This post made as much sense as most of showstopper24's do.
The more apt comparison I would think would be a field goal kicking contest to end an NFL game.Personally I don't have a problem with PKs because as a non-soccer fan I find them exciting. I understand people's gripe with the championship coming down to something like that, but you can't expect the players to keep playing after they are already dead on their feet with exhaustion. Soccer is the 2nd most exhausting thing you can do physically to genocide after all. That being said, soccer is a communist sport brought to America to try and teach American kids not to use our hands....or so I have heard. :club:

Nice Dogma quote. The better comparison would be the NHL though.

The NHL is better - fighting - skating - boards to crash intoI think the nHL would be great if they banned goalies

Skating sucks and I've been in plenty of soccer fights. I like the concept of hockey, just not the execution. I do love to watch some college lacrosse though, the final four is always good entertainment.

How does it not make sense. The championship was won by not playing soccer.
Shootouts are part of soccer just like they are part of the NHL. If you don't want it to go to PK's, win the game in regulation/OT.

yeah, but shootouts aren't part of Playoff hockey. Again, I don't think there's anything you can do about penalty kicks in soccer, and it's such a shame. there's no good answer for it. Unlimited substitutions would take away a fundamental strategic part of the game.

I've followed this thread, because I like basketball and admire Lebron but really don't watch enough to comment, so its fun reading you guys back and forths. That said, leave football alone! Penalties are a necessary evil. Without rolling subs (which would blow anyway) you can't play 90 minutes plus 30 minutes plus however many more 30 minutes you need. The players would be physically exhausted, after 90 minutes some of these guys have ran 10000m, that's crazy, to ask them to keep doing that is asking them to pummel themselves into the ground. The reason mutiple OT works in hockey and basketball is basically because the time on court/ice is lesser. The longest any ice hockey player is on ice for is around 30 minutes, some 2 minutes. It's not fair to compare how these sports settle ties. Anyways, continue to enlighten me why Lebron is over-rated/king of the baskertball world!

It's crazy, how much gushing I do over Lebron, and say how great he is, and then I pick someone else to start over him.. but think I would take Paul.
And I did with the first pick of my fantasy draft. However, I now have absolutely no doubt that I would now Lebron to start my franchise with. He is utterly unreal. It's time to start the Lebron Koolaid express back up again, and to quiver with excitement and anticipation over the idea of a Lebron-Wade Knick combo. I would also like to say.. JESUS CHRIST, D-Wade. Nice to have you back.

I don't watch Cavs games because he scares me so much. Kobe, the Lakers, and whoever else better get their rings now because when Lebron gets even just an adequate team it's over.
