Brag post time. Lots of people saw pictures of Malkin practicing and Fleury in his new pads but I just saw them in person during a closed practice.     I was down at the arena to get my security

Yes I agree that Crosby kids gotta go. Can I interest you in a phaneuf?

JapersRink ‏@JapersRink · 20m Really looking forward to Dan Bylsma being either an idiot who can't win with Sid or a genius who can win without a bottom-6 after tonight.

Any guesses on how many games, if any, Chris Simon gets suspended for? I'm going to guess 5.
ZOMG. What kind of a beast does that? Especially with all the talk about respect between players these days, that is appauling. Imagine if cut the guys achilies tendon? He should get at least 5 games and some sort of probation for the rest of the year. I want to this guy kicked out of the league before he ends someones career.

Here's a video of it:
I like Malone looking over at NYI's bench with a "WTF happened?" look.

The New York Islanders and veteran forward Chris Simon have agreed that time away from the team is needed to come to terms with his recent on-ice behavior and potentially, his playing future.http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=225410&hubname=nhl
I thought he was going to be traded to the Flyers.

My biggest concern is that people view the actions that Simon took objectively, and not who he stomped on. I know Ruutu isn't the most beloved player in the league, so I don't want that to cloud anyone's opinions when they look into this matter.

I was surprised that no Penguin player retailated, maybe they did later, I just didnt hear about it....Unfortunately the league always considers who the victim is....If it was Crosby , Simon might be given the death penalty..regardless this jackass doesnt belong in the league..How many chances are they gonna give this ape...

Take it for what its worth..But Eklund writes today that with McCabe's injury the Leafs are heavily pursuing a dman..Possibly Derek Morris and they would either trade or put Raycroft on waivers....if so the Pens would pick him up...

So what does the genius Eklund claim will be going to Phoenix? Season's greetings?

I don't think any of them knew what happened.

Probably not much as Morris makes $4 million and Phoenix will probably be happy to get rid of him...

Rivalry might move outside to Penn StateTuesday, December 18, 2007By Shelly Anderson, Pittsburgh Post-GazetteJust when the Penguins-Flyers rivalry is hot comes word that Philadelphia is interested in staging an outdoor game between the teams at Penn State's 107,000-seat Beaver Stadium.Several Philadelphia news outlets have reported that Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren would like to see the game played next season and perhaps annually.Penguins spokesman Tom McMillan said yesterday that while the club is aware of the reports, talk of a game at the Nittany Lions' football field is premature because "right now we are focusing on the outdoor game in Buffalo."The Penguins and Sabres are scheduled to play the first outdoor regular-season game in the United States, the Winter Classic, Jan. 1 at the NFL Bills' Ralph Wilson Stadium. The Penguins and Flyers are not only intrastate and Atlantic Division foes, but they have played some intense games through the years. Last season, the Penguins swept the Flyers in eight games. This season, Philadelphia has won the first three, including a rock-'em, sock-'em, 8-2 game Dec. 11.Penguins defenseman Ryan Whitney, who was part of a traditional hockey rivalry between his Boston University team and the one from Boston College, likes the idea."That would be something pretty special, if you look at the rivalry and all the young guys on both teams who are going to be around for a while," he said. The Flyers seem all for it."I've been up to Penn State for some football games," coach John Stevens told the Philadelphia Daily News. "The atmosphere up there is just unbelievable. It's a great town. It's halfway between Pittsburgh and here. It's an ideal situation. You'd get fans from both teams."Philadelphia center R.J. Umberger, who is from Plum, agreed."Just imagine how intense and fun that would be in an outdoor game," he said. "To play at Penn State there, the fans from Pittsburgh and Philly, it would be insane, probably one of the best games in NHL history."An NHL spokesman said the league has not discussed the possibility with the Flyers or Penguins. Penn State officials could not be reached.

Btw, the officiating in this game is atrocious, again, as usual.Gonchar's penalty would have never happened if Chara didn't take him out well before Gonch every touched the puck. In fact, he never did touch the puck. That leads to the 3rd goal, and now here we are.

Nice win by the pens tonight, got a little scary at the end. I thought the pens were really going to open it up after they scored 4 unanswered goals. Letang has really stepped it up for the pens in the shootout. Im happy for Conklin to get a win under his belt.

All is right in the Steel City as the steelers break a 2 game losing streak over the rams...the Pens hang tough after blowing a 4-0 lead to win in a shootout...and the #9 Pitt Panthers hit a 3 in OT to take down the #7 Duke Blue Devils in Madison Square Garden. You gotta love sports!
