My personal favourite is Fight Club . Everything about it is fantastic. There is not a flaw to be found. And never mind the technical brilliance, the stunning script, and the fantastic acting, it's completely entertaining as well.

I'd put Fincher's Seven ahead of Fight Club, but I can't deny and won't lie, FC is good.Blade Runner is, for me, a moody throwback to Film Noir, one of my preferred genres. Give it another chance!

The IMDB top 250 is a joke. Shawshank, LOTR, Pulp Fiction, and Star Wars shouldn't be anywhere near the top 10.

First off, that list is nothing more than a popularity contest. There are perfectly good reasons all those movies are on there.Shawshank has all the business in the world being in any top ten list, its a excellent story, well acted, and is enjoyable no matter how many times you watched it. I can't think of a single flaw with the movie.LOTR (and Star Wars before it) were very revolutionary in their own way. They change the way movies are made, and provide something a lot of movies don't, an escape to an alternate reality where the simple conflict of good and evil is both apparent and enjoyable. Pulp Fiction is an excellent film for many reasons, not sure that it's top ten but even if it wasn't top 20 is perfectly reasonable. It's great storytelling, and has a very unique feel to it.And to whoever was ripping on Boondock Saints just doesn't get it. It's not supposed to be an acadamy award winning picture, its a entertaining story of two brothers turned vigilantes. There is plenty of humor and very memorable characters. The deleted scenes of Boondock Saints are funnier than 90% of the comedies released these days."Rule of thumb, should have been a rule of wrist"

Yea, it is a popularity contest. I just have problems with people that cite it as a legit list.Anybody that honestly believes that Shawshank is a top-ten movie of ALL-TIME is absolutely out of their mind, knows nothing about film, or just hasn't seen nearly enough movies. It was a good movie, but in no ways do I believe it was a great movie. Honestly, it probably even shouldn't be in the top 50, or even 100.I liked both LOTR and Star Wars. Too say they were both revolutionary is a little much. Star Wars, I guess, but I feel people give it too much credit. 2001: A Space Odyssey, is a much better movie (IMO the greatest movie ever), and is much more revolutionary in terms of special effects, sci-fi in general, pacing, and cinematography. Pulp Fiction is also a very good movie in my opinion, I enjoy it a lot. However, I wouldn't even put it in my top 50 films.I honestly don't see anything good about Boondock Saints, and I don't really feel like getting into it.

I am a harry potter dork which i have said many times. Becaue i love the books, i hate the movies. when i read the books, i have a set picture in my mind what they look like and that is why i like the books. Rowling describes them so well but the movies ruin them for me. The movies are good the first time you see them but i made the mistake of seeing the third and fourth multiple times and now when i read the books, i think of the weakish dumbledore that is portrayed in the movies

People just always say it was a revolutionary movie in terms of science-fiction. However, I just feel that 2001 was much much much much more revolutionary. The stuff they did in that movie was just incredible. To this day I have never seen a movie with better special effects, and it was released in 1968. The concepts that Kubrick came up with about space were and are still just mindblowing. If you haven't seen it, do it now.

I'll disagree. I like Gambon's Dumbledore and I think that, with the exception of Alfonso Cuaron, the movies have been as faithful to the books as possible, given the complexity of the source material.

Dr Strangelove is my favorite movie of all time, you think i'd have missed space oddessy?and I just disagree about pulp fiction complettely. I think it was an amazing movie, amzingly shot, and had a profound impact on american cinema (mostly posititve.) I think 100 years from now pulp fiction will be considered teh most important ( in terms of movie history) movie in the 90's.

better movie does not = box office dollars.we agree... and I don't think many people today would say that Titantic is the best movie ever made either... in fact, I would put the number at less than 1%.Shawshank for instance did terrible at the box office, I doubt they even made their money back(I'll check with IMDBPRO later). It wasn't until the Academy Awards that many people across the country even heard of it. But the fact is, many people on this board saw that movie and loved it. I think it's a wonderful movie and deserves all the accolades people are giving it.

I have to make a quick point here fellas..I think there are two different types of arguments..."Top 10 FAVORITE movies of all time"and"Top 10 GREATEST movies of all time"My favorite 10 are as follows..off the top of my head in no particular order1-The Matrix2-Pulp Fiction3-Reservoir Dogs4-Fight Club5-Snatch6-Lock, Stock, and 2 Smoking Barells7-The Godfather8-Suicide Kings9-Boiler Room10-Office Space/The DepartedAnd no, I don't like them because they're "popular." I like them because they are good. They are my FAVORITES...Get the difference? Just because you don't like "Gone with the wind" doesn't mean it isn't one of the greatest top 10's. It just isn't in my fav list.
