I've always wanted an asian girlfriend. I realize that it may sound short sighted and racist for me to say that, but what's the problem with being attracted to one race more so than others? Too bad I'm in a committed relationship right now with no signs of it ending. I'd be up in MiraMesa like nobody's business.I should've never moved away from the Bay Area

I've been agreeing for years man.I've dated white girls. It's not that they weren't great girls, they just aren't appealing to me.I don't see it as racism at all. I simply see it as knowing your type, and going for it. It's the same as someone saying they only date redheads, only everyone clearly gets touchy over this because it's skin color and not other features that is being used to specify your type.It is, however, racism when your girlfriend's family will not accept you based on the fact that you are not Korean. :club:

It's interesting because it's ok when you say you prefer blondes over brunttes, or redheads over old white haired women...That's not the point, the point is exactly like you said, it's all about preference. I think girls who are thin, shorter than average are really smoking hot. Of course, I prefer the larger breasts, but who doesn't really? But I've seen some HOT asian women who have naturally large breasts...those are the ones I would totaly go for.As far as the other family not liking you because you're white....I always hated that. Why is it ok for them to not like you because you're white, or to a lesser extent, not korean? I had a similar problem with my former fiance. She was mexican with a large mexican family. A lot of her cousins didn't like me because I was white. Although I did respect the hell out of their sunday dinners. Every sunday they all got together and had a gigantic bbq. Good stuff to eat, if not really uncomfortable for me

yeah i definitely get that. part of the problem seriously is, sadly, that koreans and japanese for the most part are highly xenophobic (moreso towards each other). anything that is not of their culture is not right with them. in fact, i've had many a girl brag about what korea has done, what koreans have invented, blah blah blah, i should write a list, just so i can reference it and tell them, "i already know."and the toughest part is that for a lot of them, there is no inbetween. you can learn as much of their language as possible, learn everything about their culture, and learn everything their is to know about their history, and it doesn't matter to them. it's a perk, and they're impressed, sure, but it still doesn't change the fact that you are not korean. you get upgraded to a white person trying to be, but it doesn't get you anywhere. your skin color is still white, you're still 5" taller than them, and your eyes aren't set the same way theirs is. no matter what, you're still an outsider, and it will always be harder for you to fit in with them than it would be for them to fit in with your family.what you gotta do is actually find the more independent girls that could give a crap what their family expects of them (who are usually searching for a non-korean guy), or find those that were adopted by white families. it's a toss-up between which is the better route. but i'd say the latter is probably the most -ev one of the two, as then it's basically just like dating a white women, only with yellower skin.

True enough, however, is it really yellower skin? I just thought it was browner

Well, the common statement has always been yellow fever. So, to everybody, it's yellower. I'd say browner is not far off. But of course, then people the confuse it with black people. I've always found their skin is tanner than ours, and I usually think of it in that sense. Although, in certain light, it can look more yellow than anything. But yeah, I always go with tan over yellow. It sounds more appropriate, and raises fewer eyebrows.

:D i must admit, i cackled at that one.i can appreciate boobies though. although, i've never been picky, my main quirk about it is that they not be flat-chested. because then you feel like you're dating a dude. not cool.so i guess it's definitely not a bad thing that i've been attracted to asians. almost like i've been pre-programmed :club:

agreed...the only bad part about dating an asian is that after you break up with one, you want to break up again about an hour later...

it's definitely an experience, and i would recommend it. it's not for everyone, and it's definitely got it's difficult moments.i've actually had friends turn their backs on me because of my choice in women. back where i'm from, it's pretty homogeneous. seriously, it's uncommon to see a black person where i'm from. the first time i really remember seeing a black person face to face was when i was 7, to tell the honest truth.so yeah, in the area i grew up in, it kind of had the "if it's not white, it's not right," mentality.i actually went to high school with a couple klan members.

You're not alone. Even in my liberal California, I lived in a small mountain town, which instantly transported us back to the 1960's...only with cell phones.

Wow, at my high school we had like 3 black people so I'm not completly un-diverse(small rural town in Iowa, less than 2k people) but our neighbors, who are white, had black grandkids when I used to live in town when I was like 5 and we'd hang out all summer so... I don't really know where I was going there.Anyways, I've always been strangely attracted to Asians but there weren't any where I came from. Now that I'm in a large college town theres tons though, I might have to hook up with some. This post probly comes off as racist but I hope you guys understand what I'm saying.

yeah. seriously, in the area i grew up, there was only one town with black people in it, and the population was about 50-60% black. and yeah, the town was looked down upon by my town and surrounding towns.and seriously, throughout school, every girl i had dated had been white. i had always known i wanted to date interracially, asians specifically, but of course, the options were not there at all.

So this is more of a nature vs. nurture thing for you?
pretty much. because i mostly wasn't encouraged into this. my grandparents, who i spent a lot of time with, who didn't know any better, were rather racist. not racist enough that it impaired their judgement as people as a whole, but definitely leaning on the racist side. and forget about interracial dating. my mom actually had been offered a date from a black guy, but turned him down, not that she didn't want to, but out of fear of what her parents would say or do.my mom didn't encourage it, but she certainly didn't discourage it either. which is a blessing.but seriously, it's more of a natural thing to me than anything else. i've never seen anything wrong about it except for the perceptions that my peers had given me through the years (of course, pretty negative) and my fear of what they thought. i got over that a while ago, but that was even hard itself. and of course, no longer having to hang around high school buddies meant i could pick my friends better, and i wound up surrounding myself with people that didn't see a problem in it.but honestly? this is pretty laughable, but i can actually see signs of this kind of thing pretty early on in my life. that would be a huge list to compile, but i could definitely compile quite a few.
