Jordan 1
Ok, so I got pulled over and got arrested for having a .167 or something and the limit here in Ohio is .8Wonderful. So I'm not drunk and I get arrested. Cool. I have a few friends who been through this and I'm going to talk with them, but is it best to just get a lawyer and get that chit erased from the record? I know I'm going to be looking at a few grand if I do that, right? Otherwise, is it just a $500 fine or so for the DUIe?And I know, I know, don't drive drunk. Well, I wasn't drunk...so I guess the word is, don't drive if you are a lightweight and have 3 drinks at the bar. Ok, well 3 and one bar, 1 at another, and then 2 about 2-3 hours earlier. But still, not "that" much. I def. wasn't swerving and stuff. I kinda wish I just wrapped myself around a tree so at least I'd hurt and feel like an *******...not just kinda feel like an idiot sitting in my jail cell basically sober.Bleh.- Jordan

fatman 1
Yeah, you are screwed. I don't know about the laws where you live but a buddy of mine got a dui a few years back and it cost him more that $500. He had to pay court fees, pay for court mandated alcohol counsiling, pay for crash, and then insurance. If this sticks you are going to have to get a special insurance on your license that is going to cost an arm and a leg. My buddy went from paying at $75 a month in insurance to over $300. This stays on your license for 3 years as well so the insurance is a 3 year deal.Definately, get the lawyer and try to get this taken care of.

Doesn't matter if you're only "buzzed" if your BAC is above the limit you've broken the second law even if you are stone sober. You got a blood test, right - the breath meters can get it wrong some times...Anyway: http://www.dui.com/states/ohio/lawyers_attorneys.html - no idea if any of their information is actually any good. theresa113 0
I just hope you do not dismiss this and take no responsibilities for your actions. Even if you get a lawyer and the whole thing goes away, I hope you look at this as a wake up call. My father was killed by a drunk driver when I was 18 years old. Even if you think you are just buzzed, you have lost some reaction time and your responses and reflexes are not as quick as they need to be when driving. That is why people should always have a designated driver. I am sure you do not want there to be an incident one day when maybe you were a bit more than buzz but thought you could drive. I am sure you do not want to live with the idea that you killed someone's child, spouse or parent. Your cavalier attitude on your original post shows that you really have not thought about the situation in its entirety. I just hope you reflect on this more and realize how lucky you are to have this opportunity to reflect and prevent something really awful from happening in the future. tskillz187 0
Hey, sorry about the DUI. My friend just got one about 1.5 weeks ago, he blew a .12 and I was pretty upset that he got a DWI for that junk. Anyways, the legal fees and whatnot to get it reduced is going to be expensive. Here in NY having a lawyer, taking classes, and paying fine + legal fees runs about 4-5k. It sucks big time, not to mention it becomes a lot harder to attain good jobs and stuff like that. Hopefully you get it all sorted out, oh, your BAC was super low, I'd be angry about that.

It's well known that 0.08% is the legal limit in all states and in Canada. Your friend was 0.04% above the legal limit.I know 2 kids from school who were killed from drinking and driving and so many think its a joke that they get a DUI for blowing over the legal limit. If you are driving your car to a party... to a friends house... to the bar... it's simple: You are the designated driver! Infact you are risking not only your own life but the lives of others in your car and anyone on the road. There's no joke about any of that and people need to read the newspaper once in a while to wake up.
Ralphy 0
gov't hypocracy is what it boils down to.it's okay for the alcohol companies to bombard the nation's young men with almost a billion dollars worth of beer commercials from his very first TV football viewing at age 8...it's okay for the alcohol companies to burn in that image of how totally cool it is to go clubbing and drink Molson Ice...but when that impressionable young person gets pulled over and blows .082, ends up in jail, misses time from work, and has to cough up an extra $8,000 for all the fines and xtra insurance --- where are the alcohol companies?they're laughing their asses off in the board room saying, "hey it works".meanwhile our pus.sy politicians with their heads up the asses of the lobbyists choose to only get tough on the impressionable youth.Go Muslims! Kick our asses
theresa113 0
meanwhile our pus.sy politicians with their heads up the asses of the lobbyists choose to only get tough on the impressionable youth. People of all ages get DUIs, it is not just young impressionale people. And if young people were so impressionable, why haven't they listened to all of the PSA's over the years telling them not to drive drunk? This all comes down to taking responsibility for your actions. My son had to take a drug and alcohol course to get his driver's permit. It is not like the government is holding back any information on what is considered driving under the influence or not. In fact, it is called driving under the influence, not driving drunk. The OP said he wasn't stumbling or anything as if this somehow makes it OK. Stumbling is not the cut off point. The cut off point is way before that. It really saddens me that so many on this thread is not taking this serious. I guess maybe few have yet to experience the lost that I have gone through.

Pokergolf 0
Couple of points from the perspective of a criminal defense attorney:1. Get a lawyer, pronto. I know in Missouri you can often plead out of a first offense DUI for a lesser offense, often without ending up with a DUI on your record. I have no idea how it works in your state, but its certainly worth the cost of legal counsel if you have a possiblity of keeping a DUI off your record. I can tell you if you choose to fight this on your own you won't get any kind of favorable plea deal.2. You most certainly want to lose the "I wasn't really drunk" attitude, especially when you have court appearances in front of a Judge and Prosecuting Attorney. If you take that attitude to Court, you will find yourself in a bigger hole. You screwed up, so make sure you acknowledge it once its time to cut a deal.3. For you young pups on this site.......you might want to read Theresa's post over and over and over. Good luck, and next time, take a cab.

NOFX_PUNK 0
Don't try and justify or get anything removed, what kind of BS system do u American's have when u can get a lawyer and have your criminal record cleaned? If you drive under the influence of one drink your reactions are reduced by close to 40% and you deserve everything u have coming to you, more drinks and you are breaking the law and deserve everything u have coming to you. Perhaps 5k of legal fees will remind you not to drive after u drink next time u have had that combination of drinks you mentionned. If not perhaps that will be the time u kill ur best friend, your girlfriend or some random innocent pedestrian who decided to walk home after he had a few drinks! That might help you remember...Kids, don't drink and drive, you might spill your drink!
