iBeaver 409
If you saw the video etc and outcry over this. Even Trudeau pipe in. What will happen to the 11 year old and brother who cried wolf? Absolutely nothing. Kids have no displine these days. I know if my child this (which I highly doubt). There would be hell to be paid It's the way of the world now. When you have world leaders spouting blatant lies day after day, news sites, police and other adults following suit, kind of ridiculous to think that kids won't follow suit. Kids now see on a day to day basis that there are no real consequences for lying. I'm not going to assume I know anything about the people involved here. Seems there is more to the story they aren't telling us.

What punishment would you put on your child that would be visible to the outside world? None, I would guess (same as me). So how could you possibly “know” that nothing was done to her and her brother? What’s sad about this is how reactionary we all are to inconclusive things, like an 11-year olds story. Blame that on whatever you want. But sure, an 11-year old telling a lie is a brand new thing in society, and she definitely planned on it going insanely viral.

A lot of kids these days are left to fend for themselves. Just seeing the mother cry on tv and seeing it was fake was enough to make me throw up. Just terrible I agree everyone jumped on the bandwagon before the truth came out and the 11 year old probably never thought it out since she is a kid. However my kids get called names at school because of what they are I explain to them it will not stop and you have to be bigger than the idiots who make racist remarks. I know I will never be on tv crying tears about racism.

Well I don’t doubt that you are a great parent, though I find it weird that seemingly half the criticisms I read about parents is they’re too involved, and half that parents aren’t involved enough. As for your certainty about the mother’s fake crying, that sounds pretty goddamn judgmental for someone you know nothing about.

I don’t condone black lives matter etc. I just move on and don’t associate myself with idiots Why don't you condone BLM? Please don't say you believe that BLM means that only black people matter? I'm going to assume you are smarter than that so I'm just curious what the problem is? Also going to assume you don't believe all the easily provable fake stories about the "violence" of the BLM movement. How can racism be eradicated by just ignoring it and moving on? I don't know how much racism my kid will encounter, I know I've encountered it a few times myself from people who can't handle a white father with an Asian kid. I'm not going to just tell my kid he's just going to have to live with it. *shrug*

We’ll never know for sure (most likely) but you’ll walk away being certain regardless. I think you’re right about racism being a first-hand experience, and I like how you specified that you choose not to condone certain movement/actions but didn’t negate other people’s experiences/choices. Babying 613
I don’t believe in groups such as blm, kkk, nazis etc. We all matter If something happens to me I don’t jump and scream racism. I do shrug it off. I tell my kids the same thing. You are going to see it more often in your life because their are a lot of dumb people out there Here is a something I dealt with last year. My daughter tried out for the local rep soccer team. She didn’t make the team. I than heard from a few parents that the reason she didn’t make it was because she was not Greek. I refused to believe it but the parents assured me that it is true. So this year she tried out for a rep team in Scarborough because one of her friends was on it. My daughter knocked out another girl on the team (I heard she was in tears). So I guess I did shrug it off but I did tell my daughter if we do play the local rep soccer team, she should take them out BeIng white you have no clue what a minority deals with. Lumping in BLM with those two groups tells me you are not worth the time to tell you how utterly wrong that is. So continue to believe whatever. People who think that are never going to change their mind no matter how much evidence to the contrary there is. So let's move on. Your last line is bs too. To minimize my personal interactions having old white guys in red MAGA hats tell me to my face that I should have "gotten me an good old American baby" or have them shoot dirty looks at me and follow us around in a CVS and a parking lot trying to intimidate me. Or seeing people take double takes at our family and give is disgusted or angry looks. So yeah, whatever Wayne. That's bull. I'm actually taking offense to that and it's hard as hell to offend me. What I'm getting out of your posts is that you're just throwing your hands up in the air and saying, oh well people are racist. Not much we can do and I'm surely not going to fight to educate or help reduce it. It's almost like I care more about the horrible racist issues these days than you do. That's odd, being that I'm white and can't understand racism.

It is terrifying to me that you’d lump BLM in that way. Do you consider them a hate group? I think it’s your perogative to walk away from stupidity, but there’s a difference between people/groups who seek separation and hierarchy (KKK, Nazi, GOP) and those who point out where that separation exists in an attempt to end it (which includes just about every minority group, including BLM, MeToo, etc)
Babying 613
I lumped it in but believe what you want to read. Of course I was over stating it. Like come on you think I am an idiot I don’t throw my hands up and say racism. It is an excuse I will never use. I never say someone does do something for me because they are racist against me. To me it’s a cop out. My analogy of the soccer thing is something I heard and didn’t want to believe it. However 3 parents told me it and said my daughter should be on the team Take it for what you guys want to argue about but I don’t like when people scream racism. It is how I feel and I never use it ever. Yes as a parent I do tell my kids they will hear it and to turn a blind eye/ear to it. Just never associate yourself with idiots who talk garbage
iBeaver 409
I lumped it in but believe what you want to read. Of course I was over stating it. Like come on you think I am an idiot No I don't, that's why I'm surprised you did lump it in. BLM is not even remotely close to the kkk or nazis. You're only believing what, well, those people from those groups want you to believe. I have two acquaintances who are part of the Detroit chapter of BLM. They are not violent. They are not looking to hurt people. They are raising awareness of the OBVIOUS discrimination against all types of people. Black people, muslims, asians, latinos, trans, gay, etc. I don't live in Canada so I won't pretend to know what the racial tension is there but here there is an obvious problem at it starts with the government. Do some BLM members get in fights. Duh. Guess what? There are TML fans who get in fights when visiting other arenas and even in the home arena. Are TML fans just like the kkk and nazis then? Hmmm? You can say you were overstating it but the fact is you said it and didn't say anything till you were called out on it. But I should have taken my own advice and moved on from it. But alas, I didn't. But I'm going to bed now so I will have cooled off by tomorrow and will just let it go. Have a good night.
Babying 613
As I states earlier I don’t lump them in with the kkk and nazis. Just saying I don’t like minorities screaming racism every single time. I move on if anything and believe everyone is equal Is there a blm group in Toronto. Yes. Do I like it? Of course not because I don’t scream racism every time I know a lot of people because of what I do. White black Chinese Jewish Indian gay etc. Do I advertise my beliefs? If they ask yes I would. If they don’t like it they can go and find another accountant because I don’t care. I believe not to scream racism every time When I played hockey my team (who I was the captain of) got called chinks. I sat in our dressing room asking the guys if I should complain since I really don’t care. We as a group said they don’t care either. I actually did call the league and they said if it happens again the player will be suspended. Well it happen the next game we played and to he honest we didn’t care since we just beat the heck out of them on the scoreboard Another time I was playing golf and one white guy was married to a Jamaican. He asked me about blm and I told him how I felt. Guess what I felt a little bitterness towards me. Did I care. Absolutely not Now back to the original point do I like when people scream racism. No don’t like it. It is my opinion and to be honest it is heart felt. I just feel there are other avenues to fight racism than have organizations that scream racism all the time

serge 904
The city might explode with the Leafs and Raptors It’s amazing as good as the Raptors are in my opinion they have very little chance to win a championship this year. In hockey it wouldn’t surprise us if any one of 10-12 teams won a cup this year.
Dubey 1,035
that's the NBA for you. I would say that Raptors have probably their best chance in franchise history to go to the NBA finals this year, though it'll probably still end up being Cavs/GSW
