Zach6668 513
As per AHL rules thread, ***************CHAMPIONS LEAGUE CHANGES FOR 2018-19********* 4 divisions of 5 based on +/- in first season then relegation every year after that -Elite -Upper -Lower -Bottom Feeder 16 game season- play each team 4 times Top Seed gets a bye #2 plays #3 in a best of 3 series with #2 seed winning all ties #4 seed avoids relegation #5 seed is relegated League final is a best of 5 series Winner of league final is promoted to higher league Prize money weighted by division from top to bottom, incentivizing teams to avoid relegation and try to move up How will the regular season schedule work with 5 teams playing each other? Like, if teams A, B, C, D and E are in one division, on a Champions League night, you'll have A vs B, C vs D, and E with the night off?
bigguyren68 155
How will the regular season schedule work with 5 teams playing each other? Like, if teams A, B, C, D and E are in one division, on a Champions League night, you'll have A vs B, C vs D, and E with the night off? Probably each division game 1 -A vs B, C vs D. E off game 2- A vs C, B vs E, D off game 3- A vs D, C vs E, B off game 4- A vs E, B vs D, C off game 5- B vs C, D vs E, A off game 6 -A vs B, C vs D. E off game 7- A vs C, B vs E, D off game 8- A vs D, C vs E, B off game 9- A vs E, B vs D, C off game 10- B vs C, D vs E, A off etc.... So basically it will take 25 10/11-AHL game nights to have each team play their 20 games. An extra game for the inter-divisional play, plus 8 games for playoffs. Looks like 34 AHL games will be needed to handle new Champions schedule, although scheduling the inter-division game while a team is on a bye night will cut it down to 33. I like the divisions and I like the Champions League, even though I have run like crap since inception. Why arent the rankings based solely on record..I realize power rankings, and stats are more accurate..But we dont give the Stanley Cup out to the team with the best Corsi...There should be luck and excitement involved a little bit..IMO.. Looks like Daniel is fixing exactly that problem. While this initial year is based on +/- to get it started, but after that it is purely based on winning and losing. Winners move up a division, loser go down a division regardless of who has best +/-.

Zach6668 513
I don't like the thought of having a night off while others are playing. People in the other fantasy league disliked it so much we added a double header for one team instead of having one team get a bye on each game night.

Only done by +/- for the first season then it will be promotion and relegation. If you win your group you move up next season. If you finish dead last you go down a group. Obviously finishing in last in Division D (Bottom Feeder) sees no movement, nor does winning Division A (Elite). I think +/- is a much better barometer for rating a teams strength then season record. DanielNegreanu 141
Also working on 21 game schedule that would see no byes. 16 games against division and then A plays B, C plays D, 5 total games one against each team. Just need to figure out how to lineup the byes for all divisions correctly to make it work. Hard, but not that hard.
