So goalie swap with a 12year old thrown in.   ooops, that sounded bad.

Dude, why no Vegas goalies?

I will do one meat free day

Two former Gothic players in that group.

Jason Pominville has lead this team in scoring all season long, but it looks like David Backes is coming out of nowhere to take over the top spot soon. Backes is the teams highest paid player followed by Pominville at 8.00 and 5.75 respectively. Rumors circulating that Nolan Patrick will be back up with the team before the deadline to be Aho'd.

Jason Pominville, BUF. 31 7-7-14 10.5

Super excited to announce the newest member of the Cheap Thieves organization Sebastian Aho!!! No, not that Aho, the other one! We considered using a 4th round pick in the Entry draft but this is so much better. Aho will be "Aho'd" and be signed for 2 more years at just .25. In his last game he scored a goal and an assist and looks to have solid offensive upside. The Cheap Thieves are set up to sign about 5 d-men and 9 forwards next season for a total of about 8.00! We'll also Toewes rule 5 additional farm hands and fill out the rest of the roster with free agents at the draft. This expects to be a $40 team at the draft, but one that could actually challenge for a playoff spot in year 2 in the weak AHL East.

Waiver Claims:

D Sebastian Aho, NYI.

F David Kampf, CHI.

Released:

F Sean Malone, BUF.

F Tyler Graovac, WAS.

Obviously players like David Backes and Jason Pominville will not be returning. A player like Jujhar Khaira moves up the ladder mainly because he can be signed for two more years at .25 .25 and if he has 40 point upside that is a real bargain. Seeing Colin White and Jayce Hawryluk at the top may surprise some, but these are two players who can be locked in for two more years at their 1.50 price tag. Colin is in the NHL, and I just spoke with Jayce yesterday and his callup seems imminent as he is finally healthy and scoring again. I expected both to play a role with the team this year, but both faced injuries.

Farm Assets Ranked as Most Valuable:

1. F Sebastian Aho, CAR. 2.00

2. F Klim Kostin, STL. 2.50

3. F Kole Lind, VAN. 2.00

4. F Jonathan Dahlen, VAN. .50

5. F Vitali Abramov, CLB 1.00

6. F Dillon Dube, CAL. .50

7. F Nolan Patrick, PHI. 3.00

8. F Jason Robertson, DAL. 2.00

9. F Logan Brown, OTT. 2.50

10. F Jaret-Anderson Dolan, LA. 2.00

11. F Roope Hintz, DAL. 0.50

12. F Brett Howden, TB. 2.50

13. F Jeremy Bracco, TOR. 2.00

14. F Jesper Boqvist, NJ. 1.50

15. F Antoine Morand, ANA. 1.50

16. F Joni Ikonen, MTL. 1.50

17. D Ian Mitchell, CHI. 1.00

18. F Mitchell Stephens, TB. 1.00

19. D Connor Hobbs, WAS. 0.50

20. F David Kase, PHI. 0.50

Both of these lists are complied using several factors for the formula:

1. Skill Level and Progression

2. Salary

3. Age

As for the farm, a player like Nolan Patrick drops because of his high price tag coupled with his slow start in the NHL. Jonathan Dahlen and Dillon Dube rank in the top 6 mostly due to the .50 price tag. D Connor Hobbs should be higher and was predicted to be, but he hasn't produced well at the AHL level as of yet so his stock has dropped considerably. If D Ian Mitchell was a .50 player instead of 1.00 I imagine he would move up at least a few spots. The most valuable asset on both lists has to be Sebastian Aho who will be a Toewes rule call up next season.

The plan is to keep a very cheap core of players, call up a total of 6 from the farm and pick up 5-6 players at the free agent draft. This team will have a $40 budget next season, but considering how weak the AHL East currently is, it wouldn't surprise me if next year's team contends for a playoff spot. The season after that, the hope is to make a push for top spot in the division and AHL Championship consistently over the next 10 years.

I was giddy!!! Will be keeping them for the next 10 years hopefully.

Ditto, minus the 10 years part. I actually traded a 4th round pick earlier in the year to move up to #1 waiver priority to make sure I could grab him when/if he got called up.

Thieves future looks bright:

$32.75 above the cap over the next few years

9 extra draft picks including 4 additional 1st round picks

The hardest part of managing all this is making room for all the picks and the players coming in! Looks like I will be forced to make some deals at some point packaging assets for a superstar or two. Great time to be a Cheap Thieves fan!

I think these .25 Aho eligible players will help team depth and allow cap space to fill the top spots with high priced free agents. A 40 point .25 player is more valuable than a 60 point $12 player IMO, not like I have any of those! Plus, look at the farm, most of my top assets can be found there.

i agree for the most part, but i dont think 60pt will go for that much anymore.

if you pick the right depth guys, and your farm develops as it should, you'll be set up well for the auction.

Damn if only I had gotten Aho 2.0 I could've gotten a 1st rounder for him a la Jayce Hawryluk

Ha! Not quite! As I said, I could have used a 4th round pick on him this off season but chose Connor Hobbs instead. Aho has been a ton better, but not 1st pick better. I
