The Trump Presidency Thread

that's what Russian propaganda and Infowars are saying. Are there credible sources for that ?

https://www.wired.co...-filter-bubble/

Yes. Julian Assange himself very directly implied Rich was the source of the DNC emails a year ago.

He didn't say it directly but if you can't read between the lines on that exchange, you don't have a working brain.

Wikileaks subsequently offered a $20,000 reward for the Rich killer.

The Rich family private investigator has since confirmed it, via an unnamed FBI source...

http://www.fox5dc.co...254852337-story

... but then retracted. If you claim someone in the FBI leaked info to you then you go public with that, you'd better hope you're dead wrong about that info because if you're right, your life is about to get 'exciting' as the FBI proceeds to crawl up your anus to determine who leaked what. That's probably where he's at, right now.

The "robbery" involved two shots to the back and nothing was taken.

Now I realize that where you live, street robbery/murders aren't very common but where I live (most of the time), they're a part of daily life.

You know what they (street robberies) never involve? Someone getting shot twice in the back and all valuables left on the corpse.

There is nothing to indicate it was a robbery. Circumstances (given how robberies tend to be motivated by actually robbing something) indicate it was not robbery.... which leaves us with a DNC staffer who very likely leaked sensitive emails to Wikileaks getting shot twice in the back, a couple weeks after his leaks brought down the DNC itself.

But yeah. "Robbery gone wrong".

Julian Assange is not a credible source of course. He hates Clinton and the US in general and is an active Russian asset so nothing that comes from him is to be believed.

OK. Well, I guess we'll instead have to defer to whatever is said by "the Daily Wire".

Well the guy was never hired by the Rich family. He was an ex cop who was fired who doesn't appear to be a licenced PI who was hired by somebody else.

The Seth Rich conspiracy shows how fake news still works

Here's what we learned.

TV news can be an easy mark. This iteration of the Seth Rich story startedwhen the District's own Fox 5 ran a Monday night “exclusive,” citing one source — a Fox New legal commentator, Rod Wheeler — for a “big break in the investigation.” Reporter Marina Marraco reported that “conspiracy theories” could “be proven right,” as Wheeler was saying what had been rumored since last year: Rich might have leaked DNC emails to WikiLeaks, making him the target of an assassination.

“You have information that could link Seth Rich to WikiLeaks?” asked Marraco.

“Absolutely. Yeah. That's confirmed,” said Wheeler, who Fox 5 identified as the Rich family's investigator.

Within 24 hours, reporters at NBC News, CNN and The Washington Post had debunked the story. First, Rich's family quickly corrected the idea that Wheeler was on their payroll; he was hired by Ed Butowsky, a Texas businessman who had grown interested in the case. Next, Wheeler told CNN he hadn't actually obtained information linking Rich to WikiLeaks — Fox 5, he insisted, had told him to say so.

Marraco did not cite any sources except Wheeler — not the Rich family, not D.C. police, not the mayor's office, not the DNC. Wheeler, a very occasional TV pundit, was noticeably skimpy on details, suggesting he had a source who'd told him eyeball-to-eyeball that Rich's computer was in lock-up and that it had evidence of WikiLeaks contact. But he was murky on whether D.C. police or the FBI allegedly had the laptop, and the family quickly reported that neither did.

Most forms of reporting have guardrails that this story would have crashed against. Had the channel waited to run the story until the family or the police weighed in, it couldn't have aired. But that's the problem — there's a fluff allowance on TV, one that lets sensational videos through even if they've not been fully vetted. That's why a quick perusal of local news will often find segments devoted to viral videos, a phenomenon Nathan Fielder tested in an episode of his gonzo series “Nathan For You.”

There has to be nobody benefitting more from this Trump situation than Balloon Guy. It's the coming of a golden age of misinformation and obfuscation. It's like he's been training his whole life for just this moment. I am truly happy for him.

I bring joy to everyone's life.

Prospect of NAFTA rewrite gives US farmers a case of jitters

Trump's message that NAFTA was a job-killing disaster had never resonated much in rural America. NAFTA had widened access to Mexican and Canadian markets, boosting U.S. farm exports and benefiting many farmers.

Farm Country went on red alert last month when it looked as if Trump wasn't even going to pursue a NAFTA rewrite: White House aides had spread the word that the president would simply withdraw from the pact.

"Mr. President, America's corn farmers helped elect you," Wesley Spurlock of the National Corn Growers Association warned in a statement. "Withdrawing from NAFTA would be disastrous for American agriculture."

.

.

.

"The trade agreements that we've had have been very beneficial," says Stephen Censky, CEO of the American Soybean Association. "We need to take care not to blow the significant gains that agriculture has won."

.

.

Trump delivered another disappointment for U.S. farm groups in January by fulfilling a pledge to abandon the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which the Obama administration negotiated with 11 Asia-Pacific countries. Trump argued that the pact would cost Americans jobs by pitting them against low-wage Asian labor.

But the deal would have given U.S. farmers broader access to Japan's notoriously impregnable market and easier entry into fast-growing Vietnam. Philip Seng of the U.S. Meat Export Federation notes that the U.S. withdrawal from TPP left Australia with a competitive advantage because it had already negotiated lower tariffs in Japan.

Translation, We don't have a good trade deal now, they can sell to us, we can't sell to them.

But we just continue down the same path, with the same people who made these trade deals to begin with, otherwise we won't be able to trade in the markets that are closed to us by the actions of the people who made the original trade deals.

How about we strike a new pose, demand better deals, and use the leverage of our markets against the closed markets we face?

You know, do what's best for our country first, their country second?

We can live fine without their markets, they will suffer without ours. That puts us in the drivers seat.

Of course, this story like all leftist stories regarding Trump suppose that Trump will just close everything and sit back and laugh while his rich buddies get richer somehow. There is no second act, just the one single act that will be the entirety of the plan of action.

This is why the left is ignored by the voters, they are all fear, no truth.

This is incredible.

That awkward moment when Trump both bows and curtsies, showing that Republicans are total hypocrites yet again.

I'm a #NeverTrumper but this is pretty stupid. There was no bow anywhere in the video, and during the supposed "curtsy" Trump was just getting a medal put around his neck by a guy about a 1/2 foot shorter than him, and then readjusting it by moving up and down. He's not even looking at him when he does this supposed bow/curtsy. This kind of stuff was so stupid when the republicans did it to Obama, and it's equally stupid now.

You can disregard anything the PI ever said.

The facts of his assassination and Assange are enough to indicate massive smoke on this issue.

That is changing, at this point we can say that 'has changed'

Legacy Energy interests are shitting their pants about the potential of home solar. In Florida, the largest state power company ran a scam to get a constitutional amendment passed under the guise of being 'pro solar' but was, in fact, the opposite.

Trump is a regressive turd on the energy issue.

What I'm having trouble with is the motivation for his killing. If it was a hit, and I admit that it certainly looks like one, why would the DNC do it? For retribution? For future deterrence? That only works if the people you want to scare know that you're responsible. And the people that believe the DNC are responsible are all Republicans, so it's having no real effect in that way.

Was it (dun dun dunnnn) the Russians/WikiLeaks? To make it look like the DNC did it and tarnish them even more? I mean...that would be a pretty nefarious plot. I doubt it, but it would be great movie fodder.

I'm leaning toward him being involved in something that has nothing to do with any of the politics or WikiLeaks. Owed money or something.

When the email leaks period was in full swing during the election, TV pundits sniveled that this was a 'slow drip' problem for the Democrats... that it would just drip and drip and drip and not stop, They were right,

Rich was the faucet.

He was a disenfranchised Bernie Bro who saw what the DNC did to steer it to Clinton, he had already released a shit-ton of salacious information to burn them all down. Did he have more stuff to release? Can you even imagine the stuff he could've theoretically had access to as a deep insider and the fear that must've inspired in that circle?

Only one way to be sure that problem wasn't a problem anymore.

A "robbery".

Ok. Maybe. I hate the DNC and am 100% confident that they promised Hillary the 2016 nomination after Obama's surprising rise in 2008, but coordinating a hit sounds like a big jump in evil plotting. Who makes that call? Who do they call? Does Wasserman know hitmen? It seems like a lot of people would know about something like this. First, the person/people who found out that Rich was in contact with WikiLeaks. Second, the person/people the first guy(s) told. Third, the communication chain to the actual hitmen. All of those people would know at the very least. Is the DNC buttoned up and competent enough to pull something like this off as cleanly as it appears to have been?
