True, but Mactavish doesn't get to take credit for Devan's success, nor does Shanahan for Kessel's. And I will continue to be bitter because it's sports and I don't have to be forgiving and understand

Bruins with zero shots in the 2nd period vs Ottawa.

This isn't directly related to the Niskanen incident, but his comment inspired it.   Everybody who injures someone claims they had "no intent to injure," But like, if you're running someone who does

Does anyone else have questions as to why we as media/fans treat Werenski coming back into the game as a sign of "courage"? Is that really what we want to teach our kids, if your face is fractured, that a good teammate and hockey player goes back in and plays?

I'm as guilty as anyone, as I always love the 'heart' shown by hockey players, but sometimes, shouldn't intelligence win out over "guts"?

You can't blame Werenski because every instinct he has wants to get back into the game. Columbus's medical staff for letting him get back into the game should be sued for malpractice

Wouldn't it be great if we could switch to the other awesome looking game in the intermission?

Wish the NHL would stagger this shit. Not hard to start one of the games at 7:30.

Are eyeballs on coaches corner that important to the bottom line?

that was an awful call in OT in OTT-BOS game.

Bobby Ryan has a future in Italian Soccer when his NHL career ends next year. Dives, then scores GWG and stands there gloating like the ass he is.

I quoted this post because I didn't want to quote the gore pic of the dudes broken face.

The refs should have stopped the play. I'm not going to say the goal that was scored while the bluejackets were shorthanded is the reason the Penguins are going to win this series because Columbus was almost drawing dead after game 1. Still, the refs literally failed to do their job when Werenski went down and should be ashamed of themselves. I think the refs do a pretty great job overall and playoff hockey has to be the most difficult kind of hockey reffing there is.

And

The play by play and announcer(Miller and Ferraro?) on CNBC during the Preds/Blackhawks game last night were absolutely incredulous for this goal being upheld after the challenge. It was so bad that I questioned if I was seeing the same angles. The Blackhawks bias wasn't too annoying during the game until this point which was nice.

The fox announcer from the linked clip was exactly what I was thinking about in real time.

This is a good example of the refs doing a great job.

The rule book states that refs aren't to blow the whistle until the team worth the injured player regains control of the puck.

A contradictory rule says if there's blood to blow it immediately, but I imagine it's possible the refs couldn't see the blood.

a big reason was that werenski got up and was making his way to the bench. If refs think a player is really badly hurt they will whistle it down regardless. In fact you can sometimes see a player from the other team telling a ref to blow it down.

He was on the ice for a long time in hockey seconds and had trouble getting to his knees. He was on his skates and moving to the bench before the goal was scored but it shouldn't have come to that.

What I mean is......Eff the Penguins!

You're describing why it wasn't blown down then, according to league rules.

Ron Hainsey has a shockingly poor hockey IQ for someone who has been in the league for so long.

Awful, awful pinch to lead to the third goal - likely the one that seals the game.

And just no spatial awareness with the puck. Dump it in, don't even bother looking for options.

Nevermind. Hainsey is the best player ever.
