Before you manage something you have to understand it and Trump has shown he didn't know how the government works before he was elected and since he doesn't read anything longer than a one page memo his learning curve is going to be a very very long one. Obama's experience as a Constituional Law Professor, a State Senator and then a U.S. Senator made him understand how the government works far better than Trump's experience running a private real estate company, being a reality TV personality and bankrupting the only public company he ever ran. OK, so he was an academic, an Illinois state senator and then a state senator and you think that gives him better insight into executive authority than an actual chief executive? Bearing in mind I think he goes down as a great president, if anything, he was an example of how people from outside the typical government hierarchy will probably make better chief executives than those who are beltway "next-in-line's" ala McCain, Kerry, or Hillary Clinton. But I do love how the narrative of the left has become one of " We all know all the requirements of the job of President, and we also all know how Trump thinks and feels, therefore we know Trump is not qualified to be President" So Trump, who runs a couple little hotels, a business interest here or there, ( but some of them are just licensing agreements, which are like baby stuff to draw up those ) has not learned the skills needed for a job...that you guys, who have 1/1,000th of the experience in Government workings are intimately aware of? Do you not understand how arrogant and pitiful your pearl clutching has become? And how completely devoid of basic common sense? Especially having you say them WHILE Trump is kicking butt in office? It really stems from believing what you did about Bush as well. You disqualified him by saying he was dumb, that Cheney really was running things, all while ignoring his degrees from Harvard and Yale, and every person who interviewed him talked about how converse he was without notes or teleprompters. To you, a good President speaks well, gives a good speech, and is a good campaigner. Both Obama and Clinton fit those descriptions perfectly. Since Trump and Bush have idiosyncrasies you find boorish, you therefore infer they are incompetent. It's why you lost this election,most of the governorships, most of the state houses and are about to lose the SC. And you are honestly laying your heads down proudly convinced you understand so much better than those deplorable people clinging bitterly to their guns and Bibles. The next few years are not going to bee kind to the collective hive mindset of the left. There is nothing he does not nail. I read an article he had in Salon where he discussed lowering the debt instead of growing the economy to make the size of the debt less relevant. Although I grant that I am not in agreement, it is more because of my distrust that a larger debt always equals a larger government, and that is the problem. The book The History of The Dollar did a great job of explaining how the high interest rates imposed by Volker under Carter were probably the real reason Reagan enjoyed such a robust growth cycle, not the cutting of taxes. But there is also the philosophical discussion on the confiscation of wealth by government vs the size of government being controlled that makes it less of a cut and dried hard truth. I guess I'm saying I find economist to be really good about explaining the past in a manner that gives them the illusion of being right about their theories, and really bad at predicting the future.
