and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

Napa, you realize attending a wedding is optional, right?

Start bringing a date and leaving a smaller gift, word will spread and you'll stop getting the questionable invites

It makes no sense to me that someone from your frat would schedule a wedding on the ISU-Iowa game day. That actually makes me mildly upset. I really hope that they aren't from your frat and have no connection to ISU.

It's a mild annoyance not the end of the world. It's not like I'm missing attending since its in Iowa city. Plus, we'll be able to watch most if not all the game due it being a late wedding and being in the west coast.

I don't even know man.

First noteworthy hand sees our hero with JT o clubs in the big blind. Calls a raise to 12 along with 5 others, and we see a flop. AK3. No action. Turn is my queen, I check and villain bets 10 into 70. Two calls and I raise to 30 and take it.

chatted with the CEO tonight over bourbon. he says, we interviewed this guy from a bigger competitor, head of project management. he says, "as he described what he did, I kept thinking, this is I.E."

can't for the life of me see why he made the connection between the job applicant and the Internet browser produced by Microsoft, or why he brought it up in conversation like that.

Typically we get our raises on the first check after 7/1. They changed the review process this year so raises don't come into effect until 9/1. Because of this they made a big deal about how it wasn't fair to us or something and so they would pretend that the raises were effective 7/1 and we would have a true up on our 9/1 check.

Well, as you know, I got a promotion and I was excited to get around an extra $300 on this check. But when I looked at my pay stub yesterday and didn't see an adjustment I was a little confused. So I went and asked the payroll lady if my true up was just baked into my raise and she said no, it's just that people who got promotions didn't get the true up. And even if I did it turns out they're paying it out over the next 12 months instead of a lump sum so it would have been barely noticeable anyways. No big deal.

Enter today: the payroll lady stopped by my desk and told me she had been getting angry emails and calls all day from people asking where their "bonus" was. Like yelling at her and slamming phones down angry. Apparently some managers were telling people that they would get their bonus. And almost no managers, mine included, didn't make it clear that promotion meant no bonus. To top it off being Labor Day weekend the important HR people were gone and a lot of affected people probably weren't even in office so unless HR sends out a clarifying email she'll likely have to deal with it on Tuesday.

I can't wait to see HR's response.

It's such an asinine situation anyways. Like would people have really been upset about raises being 2 months later anyways? Like, shit, how many places have had wage freezes for years? It's not even in our agreements that we're promised a raise every year but we always do. They just made it overly confusing and difficult for no reason and then fvcked up the execution. Unreal.

in undergrad, I had a marketing prof that said, "don't ever blame the audience," which I think is such a great life lesson. regardless of the situation, you are the presenter--you have the ability to discern whether what you're saying will be misinterpreted, before you say it. these things can be foreseen, just think about it before implementation.
