Brag post time. Lots of people saw pictures of Malkin practicing and Fleury in his new pads but I just saw them in person during a closed practice.     I was down at the arena to get my security

Yes I agree that Crosby kids gotta go. Can I interest you in a phaneuf?

JapersRink ‏@JapersRink · 20m Really looking forward to Dan Bylsma being either an idiot who can't win with Sid or a genius who can win without a bottom-6 after tonight.

MacKenzie said they look at hits after 0.5 seconds. Dunno. I'm guessing 1 game.

Pens need to hold on here, because a D-corps with Lovejoy, Schultz, and Pouliot won't be pretty.

Not surprised. Pens are going to be in for a rough ride tomorrow with that group on D. Yikes.

i don't think it hurts them for one game to dial down the free range and play a tight playoff type game. If letang had gotten three games I would be betting the caps to finish them in three straight. I still say pens in 6

Whoa. Maatta is a GTD. That would be a useful player to have back. Guessing it's more posturing than anything though. Surprised he's able to open his eyes in daylight.

You know, I had no idea of the stat I'll post in a second, but when that OT started, I thought to myself, 'man it feels like it's been a long time since the Pens won an OT playoff game...

Pens played ok there... were pretty good up until about halfway through the game and then the defensive breakdowns started creeping in... like the Carlson goal... Pouliot flubbed the clear right before, and a few other chances that stayed out of the net, if only for the grace of god, errr, Murray.

I guess it kind of makes sense, given the personnel they're rolling with here.

Did we ever hear what happened to Fehr? I really liked Rust on the Malkin line, but Fehr is a good hockey player, so it definitely hurts us that he's out.

Is Fleury ever going to play another game for the Penguins?

I'm not super surprised by that loss, though I had my hopes up after the second half of the first period when they had really turned it on...

Serious lack of discipline - taking penalties and turning the puck over - cost them dearly in the second.

They had to lose here for my prediction of Pens in 6 to be accurate anyways. ;)

Take it down at home on Tuesday.

Well, the first two periods were probably the best the Pens played all series. They were really dominant. Got kind of lucky with a double minor PP and then managed to finally get the PP to work and cashed twice.

The less said about the debacle in the third the better....

The crazy part about this series, is the Pens did it with just 1G, 1A from Malkin and just 2A from Crosby.

Having a third line (on paper) with Phil Kessel is insane. This depth is why Pittsburgh is winning, even with a medium quality defense corps. You can stop Sid, you can stop Geno, but you've got nobody left to stop the Kessel line. Oh, and the 4th line is good too... like, I'm fully comfortable with Cullen, Kuhnhackl, Rust on the ice, taking a D-zone faceoff, at any point in the game... Crazy.

Pens were Corsi beasts in game 2...

They had a nice edge in game 1 too, but I would attribute that mostly to score effects, since they fell behind 3-0 by what, midway through? Well, 3-0 late in the 2nd, possession was tilted in TB's favor, then the score effects thing happened where Tampa sat back and the Pens controlled play in the 3rd:

So... much better showing tonight, is what I'm trying to say. Most nights they'd have probably buried 4 or 5 of those in regulation.

This is a nerve wracking game 7. Tampa has lots of skill. So does Pitt. Either team could light it up. Both goalies are playing above expectation, with the starters out. Can they both keep that up for game 7? And please... Zach.... Doox... no overconfident predictions!!! :) Going to be hella fun at Consol.

Oddly specific game 7 prediction:

Pittsburgh wins 5-2.

Kessel scores twice

Crosby scores twice

Murray makes 23 saves

Vasilevsky makes 36 saves

Dubey can take over for any overconfident predictions :) Anytime Pittsburgh fans get cocky, they soon regret it, so I'm just gonna hope the big names show up, and the rest of the team keeps up the standard they've set. I'm gonna lose a few pounds of flop sweat, though.

I just booked a flight and hotel to Pittsburgh for game 5.

Tickets haven't gone on sale yet, and I think it'll be tough to get them, but I'm pot committed now.

If anyone has a hookup, please step forward now. :)
