Being a Winnner is like playing with the cheat codes on.

Ouc, I cant see an image but I assume its just a stripped lower?       Buy a fire control group, which has the trigger, hammer, disconnector, safety, and the pins and springs. I like DPMS parts. S

I take it back. She's flippin' gorgeous!   http://i.imgur.com/f38kVtJ.jpg       Boooooo, I don't know the code to make that show up as a pic instead of a link.

I shot my chrony right in the face on accident and then on purpose. That was an awesome $90 target. So I bought a prochrono digital and did some testing for my .40 loads. I went too light so I have to try a few more before giving up on this type of powder. I'm using E3 which is a shotgun powder that doesn't have published data for handguns. It's super super sweet in my 9mm at 115g plated round nose at 3.4gn. It's easily the softest pistol round I've ever shot outside a .22 and has just enough recoil to practice technique and enough power to knock down steel plates at 25yrds.

Shake, I'd do some research on the reloading equipment just to see how it works. Feel free to post info and pics in here. I'm assuming it's a single stage. My understanding is that single stage loaders are a little laborious for small pistol rounds but perfect for rifle. I'd get a rcbs rock chucker if I were doing long range precision rifle loads.

The p229 is such a sweet gun. Have you been able to hold or shoot one? It fits my hand perfectly and because of this I can shoot off hand and still maintain a grip and decent trigger pull on single action. Not so much on double though. I like the weight for shooting on the range or sitting in my nightstand but it would be too heavy for me to carry.

What the heck man? Your glock has a trigger safety! Eh, I get it. You need to have 100% confidence in your carry piece and I don't think carrying without one in the chamber is a good idea. The good thing is you can sell your glock for 400+ easy.

The sig, as AJ pointed out, doesn't have a manual safety but the double action hammer fired action acts as a good safety due to the heavy trigger pull. Personally, I hate the idea of having a manual safety on a carry weapon. Maybe a grip safety would be fine like on the Springfield XD but any safety that can't be overcome during normal use of firing the weapon isn't something I would have on a carry piece.

The Shield is too narrow for my hand even though I'd also like to get a smaller carry gun. Also, the safety is no bueno but if you like the feel and you like a safety then that's a great option. I'm assuming your thinking of going with the 9mm?

You know most of this but I like talking guns.

I shot a 9mm shield last sunday. It's way too narrow for me to carry and I hate the safety.

AJ, what holster do you use to carry your LCR? Have you ever tried an ankle rig?

I'm taking possession of a J frame in a couple of weeks and already have a desante pocket holster even though I think the gun will be too big for pocket carry and a sweet hand tooled leather OWB/IWB holster in oxblood. Also, I already have an apex spring kit ready to be installed.

forgot to mention, I picked up a winchester sxp defender a couple weeks ago. 12 ga. 18 1/2 in barrel. it really was the hole in my tool kit so it's nice to fill that niche.

excellent. I'm convinced there isn't a better option for a bedside gun than a pump action 12 gauge. I'd recommend putting a light on that bad boy.

I finally figured out how to shoot my mossberg without bruising the flerp out of my shoulder. Apparently it's really important for the butt of the gun to be in the front shoulder pocket with the elbow down close to the torso instead of out and away from the torso. I didn't know.

speaking of being a dummy........

I picked up a Taylor and Co 1873 rifle from my FFL Wednesday. It's chambered in .357/.38, 20" octagon barrel, case hardened, short stroked, and has been slicked up action tuned. It's a Winchester 1873 "the gun that won the west" clone made by Uberti and imported and sold by Taylor. I bought it from THE go to rifle guy for cowboy action shooting. He takes a new rifle and tunes it up to run faster and smoother than anyone can shoot while still being Single Action Shooting Society legal. While a stock gun would be way faster than me, it's cheaper in the long run to buy a race ready rifle.

Has anyone seen The Rifleman? The gun in that show is basically what I have but without big ass ranchers lever loop and of course I don't have the lever screw modification that compressed the trigger when the lever closed because that's super unsafe and dumb.

I dry fired the heck out of it Wednesday night. Not as fun as making it go bang but still fun to shoulder the rifle, work the action, get a feel for the sites and trigger.

Last night I did something dumb. I took the rifle apart. I mean, it's not super dumb because I need to know how to clean it but there was no reason to try and take off the butt stock. Eventually I want to get a blank unfinished butt stock and fore end and put a billy goat carving on the butt stock and some line work on the fore end but that's not going to happen for quite awhile. According to the exploded rifle diagram, and later verified through the internet, there are two screws holding the stock to the frame. Shirt wouldn't budge so I'm like...let me take this screw that's right next to the bottom stock screw. Yeah, bad idea. Without looking at the diagram I took out the main spring screw and of course the butt stock didn't come off. The main spring is what gives tension to the hammer. I was thinking it's no big deal since I was breaking down the whole rifle. Well, I broke it down as far as possible and I can't figure out what's holding the stock on the frame. Now the hammer doesn't fall when I pull the trigger. yeah, what a dummy.

Now I get to call the dude and confess that I'm an idiot and ask how the mother fluck this stock comes off. He'll probably laugh at me and tell me it's just on there real tight and I need to whack it with a rubber mallet. Dude hand fit the internals of this rifle and now I have to tell him I broke it without even shooting it yet. Naturally he's out of his shop until the middle of next week so I guess I'll leave him a message.

I even have 1K 125g rfn lead bullets and a new roll crimp die so I could start to develop a load this weekend.

DUMMY DUMB DUMB DUMB!

Sure, if you only need 5 rounds. At this point, the local criminal element knows not to come at me with fewer than a dozen guys.

not really sure how any of you feel safe without multiple strategically placed claymores at all entries and exits.

some of us have pets larger than black widows.

or

how do you put a claymore on the roof?

or

aren't you afraid the air movement alone upon a detonation would pretty much level your place? so what's the point?

I put claymores all over the place, but I certainly didn't do it "strategically." I shoot from the hip, literally and figuratively.

and the need for infinite ammo cheat becomes much clearer.

So I think the gun ban hysteria is high enough that I can sell some of my guns without taking a bath. I'm selling 2 M4s and a WSM with zeiss scope. I'll probably kick in a few extras like some cheap optics and some decent tactical slings on the ARs.

Any suggestions for conducting person to person sales via the interwebs?
