I Called In Sick Today

I bought tissues today, but they weren't the kind that I normally get. I usually get the "puffs" with lotion and the double ply. They're thick and pillowy. It's like blowing my nose into a warm cloud. But the store was out, or didn't every carry in the first place, or whatever, so I went with what they had.

 

But it's not quite as good. And now I have to live with mediocrity for the next month or two months or however long it takes to go through this box. Because, of course, there's no way I can just throw them away and get a new box. That would be wasteful.

 

So, for the next month or so, I'm going to become keenly aware of how often my nose itches, or whenever I sniff a bit, or if there's any other nostril issue that needs tending to, looking for an excuse to go through one or two or three pull-outs of tissue at a time.

 

Use the mediocre tissues as toilet paper. But wait, you might say, this would tear through my delicate rectum. I don't think so, as mediocre tissues are typically as soft as all but the nicest of toilet papers.

 

dude it went by so quick. and this is the first time in a lot of sundays that i enjoyed the walking dead more than any of the other shows. if they do it right that show will be hard to beat. i'd say homeland was 2nd, then boardwalk empire, and finally dexter. dexter really needs to step it up.

 

I loved the first Walking Dead, but I feel like the season is going to unravel and become a mess fairly quickly. It's best when it's simple, but they just can't help muddying up all the story lines sooner or later.

 

I'm fine with Dexter these days...at least they're moving the story forward. Not the best show out there, but still entertaining.

Feeling really good this morning for some reason.

 

Friday night had a blast back in A-town. My old roommate(Jake) and his gf(who's like my BFF and I've spoken about multiple times) was in town. Jake is from St. Louis and a huge cardinals fan and does not give one shit about anything. I say that because we ended up at the international student/hipster bar because they had $5 Long islands( actual L/I's, not Brv's non-alcoholic kind) and so three of the four tv's were on some (probabaly) meaningless soccer game between two countries and one smaller one was dedicated to Cards/Nats. So, basically, he was "that" guy constantly jumping up and yelling obscenities and stuff while everybody just gave us ugly Americans look of disgusts. But it was fun though because we got a pretty solid buzz going and got our other friends Ethiopian friend straight wrecked.

 

We then did a little bar hopping, ran into some other people we knew, and ended the night back at my friends apartment where we continued drinking and listening to Shakira for whatever reason.

 

Slept for a few hours and then went tailgating where got to see another friend/his dad (whom is pretty much my hero) and then meandered around some other tailgates before heading to the game.

i'm fine with dexter, i enjoy it. i just think it could be so much better if they were willing to go dark. but they aren't.

 

this prison storyline should be good for the walking dead. hopefully lori and carl will die soon. they really have no place left to go. carl will probably have to die for the same reason that walt had to be taken off lost; he'll grow up too quick in real life.

Yeah, losing that game when stung because we played really good and just made a few mistakes that cost us and then were still very much in it down to the last series. It's so odd going going from a perennial basement dweller to being right on the cusp of contending and having a .500 season as a bit of a disappointment in kind of a short period.

 

After this weekend I'm pretty convinced I need to get a job in Minneapolis.

Thanks for the support, bro. Whether its true or not...I've convinced myself that it is true that I need to move to a real city and work in public accounting to be successful/happy. And I think it'll be hard to be convinced otherwise.

I cannot recommend using facial tissues as asswipe. Facial tissues don't break down as well in water and if you have a week with mexican food on heavy rotation, it could get really ugly for your bathroom floor.

 

If the upcoming storyline is half as hardcore on the show as it was in comics, it'll catapult that show into the pantheon of the elite, boundary expanding, envelope tearing shows just in terms of "OMG I can't believe they did that on tv." Based on how close they kept to it in the premier, this season (perhaps even the next 2 depending on where they leave off this season) should be epic.

 

I really hope last night's intended victim is a one off and not trying to mimic the 4th book which was just awful. The reason I'm concerned is the whole shrine with the bulls horns motif.

nothing much to report. i ate pizza for dinner last night and it was good. i only slept about 7 hours. i'll pay for that later, but some guys are painting the hallway in my building so they obviously need to make a ton of noise early in morning.

 

nothing else going on really. thinking about getting a new case for my iPhone. but i can't find one that tickles my fancy. i'll keep you informed.

Yeah, that's not a decision you want to rush. i made that mistake with my ipad case and have regretted it ever since.

 

I have what I think is the standard rubber case that has the holes in it for my phone. It's served me well.

My Nebraska case cracked the other day. Dropped it one to many times, but my phone is fine so I guess it died a good death. Right now I'm using my backup case. Which is a kc royals case. But it isn't baseball season so it doesn't feel right. I need a new Nebraska case, or maybe a Kansas case because basketball season will be here very soon. Just gotta find the right one.

it's about time, i've been wanting to check it out for quite awhile now.

 

so i'm in my office (at school) preparing for class (which i'm currently in) and just before i leave the office to go to the class-room i check my phone and i have three texts from three people i know. i've mentioned them here before. one is the girl i met up with at the snow co. place - where they serve those fruity slushy type drinks - and was at the casino with me that one time. the other is that lady's boyfriend, who i guess is a friend of mine. the third is the lady who ripped my heart out a month or two back, you remember, the one from the no-sexy time wedding. all three of them want me to meet up with them at this bar in town. 303. 303 is the name of the bar. i've never been there. now i have class in two minutes so obviously i cannot go. but allow me to vent for a second.

 

why the bleep is she texting me? all the text says is "come to 303" - i mean what the bleeping bleep is that about. we havent seen each other since that night where she told me it's not me, its her. besides a stray group text and a tweet or two we havent spoken at all. literally havent seen her in person in like two months. even if i didn't have class i wouldn't want to go up there and hang out with you three. especially you. i don't want to be your "Friend" and i don't want to see you because it makes it hard for me not to spend the night crying on the floor of my closet. i'm a weak, sad, pathetic man and i don't need you reminding me of that. i don't want to see you. thats it. but of course i don't say that to her. it's not her fault i'm who i am and i won't take it out on her. so bleep it, i respond with something about my class. she says oh darn, this bar is way better than class. yes i'm sure it is bitch. well you better come next time, smiley face. oh i better come next time, huh? whys that, so we can catch up? i got news for you, if i'm not a part of your life then i don't give two shits about what you've been doing or how this or that has been going. i care more about tv characters than you right now. i don't want it to be that way, but it is. so excuse me while i don't give a shit. bleeping women.

 

and you just know when the day comes that i do finally see her in person, she'll be all like, hey austin - why havent i seen you? i thought we were still friends? oh we're friends alright, now step into my van and i'll show you how friendly i can be.

 

i think i'm going to get a reeces ice cream bar on the way home from class. those things are like crack.
