I remember when this thread was all about how bad KJ was at 3betting

He's probably not flatting KJ's raise otf if he had a2. Besides, A2 is such a small portion of his range here, we are never ever ever ever ever ever ever folding the turn. People are stupid, they do

With that board texture I would be thinking he's flopped a set of 9s, hit two pair with his 10 9 suited, or is on a draw with his reraises. However, he was far to aggressive and got very lucky, but you were OOP with only top pair here (AA withstanding) therefore I dont like a 3b here. But I tend to be too conservative at times (esp. in tourneys), but this being a cash game, I'd probably be in the same boat as you. I lost a big one last night AI with KK when a guy hit Quads holding pocket 10s...ugh! Oh well, such is the nature of the beast we love to battle. g'luck today dood!

Yeah, thanks. I think with the amount of draws and worse one pair hands that it should definitely be a flop 3b.Played a short session today; not good action so I wrapped up my month as I have class and basketball later today.Played 13.6k hands which as you all know is a lot for me; felt really good about my grind. The .5bb/100 winrate it pretty lol but I ran awful all-in; so hopefully February goes better in that regard.I watched a lot of DrGiggy and Galfond videos this month and reviewed hands etc.Graph:PMrT5vdXfiU6vt2Rq3t6.pngFebruary goals:12k handsWatch videos and participate in some sweats; keep getting betterNon-poker: Keep smashing school- I started the semester really strongKeep working out- Been hitting the gym and playing a lot of basketball so it's all good right nowDo some reading and other stuff to be a better, more rounded person

So I've been out of it for 9 months now... but this officially marks my "retirement" from poker. Just sold a 1 month contract for the same money I was making in 6 months of grinding...Writing software rocks

Took my first shot at 5/10 since some brief shots last May. Went well. Pulled $1k in an hour or so to close the month. Finished January at +$11.6k in 98 hours. Decent start to the year. =)

January goals 50k hands if I play the whole month at 10NLBuild up role a fair amount
[ ] 50k hands[?] built up roll So I started out playing 12+ tables and that did not go so well, I ended up in a pretty nice hole and went back to 6 tabling for the rest of the month to get out of it. Too much added at once. If you had tried adding 2 tables above your norm you would have had a better shot at success. Then again, I'm just a pot callin the kettle a spade

I think it likely was a case of adding too much in one go but I didn't particularly feel like I was losing track of where I was in hands. Poker all still feels really slow after Rush, Blitz is supposed to be coming down the road on stars but I don't think anyone knows what form that iwll take yet.

OK. I have been bored recently, so I decided to try out Merge and see how it goes. It has been a few months since I have played, so a bit rusty, but going o.k. Need some input/thoughts on this hand. Pretty standard tight table.Merge - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 4 playersHand converted by PokerTracker 3BTN: $21.91Hero (BB): $11.14BB: $10.00UTG: $10.15Hero posts BB $0.10Pre Flop: ($0.10) Hero has A:spade: J:diamond: fold, fold, BTN raises to $0.20, Hero calls $0.10Pretty standard button min-raise for this table. Decided to call. Was afraid if I 3-bet here, it would have run him off.Flop: ($0.40, 2 players) T:spade: 9:club: Q:club: Hero checks, BTN bets $0.40, Hero calls $0.40So far feeling good. Villain could have connected a bit here, but just not sure since open-min-raising the button was kinda the norm. Turn: ($1.20, 2 players) 6:diamond: Hero checks, BTN bets $0.50, Hero raises to $1.35, BTN calls $0.85Complete dud, so I decided to check again and see if Villain was 1-barrelling or not. He makes a small bet, so I decided to bump it up a bit and see where he was at. He tanked for a bit, then made the call.River: ($3.90, 2 players) K:club: Hero ??? Really hated to see the club. Wish it would have been one of the other 3. Kinda stumped on what to do here. Do I lead out here for about 2/3 - 3/4 here and put myself in a pickle to a raise/shove. Just check and make a crying call here?? Could villian have taken a flush draw line here with some random crap?? Could he have some kind of Jx and was thinking the same as me hoping to complete but not to see a club? Could my play look like I was on the flush draw? Thoughts??

I'm 3betting pre-flop a lot vs the min-open bc the range he's going to open there is really wide, so there is a ton of valueI think the flop is fine. c.r on the flop can be cool bc he does have that wide range and most villains will c-bet this texture with a high frequency. The turn c.r is good imo. I agree he is more likely to be weak with the small sizing- I might make it bigger as he under bet, so 4x or so might be better than 2.6x.The river is a pretty clear bet/fold at the micros. He will crying call all his worse straights, sets and two-pairs. I wouldn't be surprised to see a crying call from AK either.Sizing: I'd go with $3-$3.50I will feel really good about folding to a jam as it will be a flush close to 100% of the time.

Most important part. I've always known that bet/folding the river with non nut value hands at the micros was a good thing, but it really couldn't be more true on Merge. People just play so nitty on the river that unless you have a read that he bluff raises, chances are, it's not a bluff.
