I moved to cabo for the hookers and the tacos, loving every minute of it!
Did you actually? Was it for poker reasons?I know a lot of people did it, and it's becoming clear from responses on AIM that a lot of people think I'm talking about them. If I don't know you well, I assure you that you are not an intended target, and I wasn't trying to be a dick. A lot of young guys with no overhead and no responsibility are doing similar things, and their ambitions and temperament make it a fine choice I'm sure. I meant that to display the sort of sick trap that life and mentality can be for people. If you are happy, haven't hurt anyone's future with it, and aren't worried about your own future, please know that I meant no implied degeneracy to you just because you still play poker.

Ya I don't have much of a future so I said **** it, Cabo for 6 months, I'm down. I've made a good amount of money the first few months and really enjoyed the town. The weather and the food is great, everyone is very friendly and speaks decent English. I'll be coming back in March and re evaluating my future, but until then lets party naked and enjoy Mexico.

People, we are losing focus here. Let's get back to the point of the thread. Im afraid this forum is well beyond its peak and is never going to come anywhere close to what it was. If DN promoted some yes it would get more traffic but without an online card room attached its pretty pointless because there is no motivation. Other forums already passed it by years ago (as far as a strategy destination) and most of the good to great players no longer post here in regard to actual poker discussion. Personally I have made some friendships here with people from all over (savagerebel, nvrquit, lurbz, tbrick412, kobe2odom8 to name a few) and life goes on. This forum could be resurrected in the future if online poker reopens fully to the US market but until then this is just how its going to be.That being said a site redesign is long overdue and would be nice. The only solution I have is after I win the lottery, the Nobel Peace prize and the Calder trophy for NHL rookie of the year at age 36 I will be so famous I could wear my FCP on tv all the time and that would clearly drive traffic back to the site. However, this is clearly such a ludicrous scenario it'll never happen. That hat is never showing up.
you're friends with Lurbz? c'mon man!

I wish I could be 20-something again. :club: At least I have no kids, so life is not totally over.

The death of online poker is somewhat exaggerated. Maimed, perhaps...dead, no.FCP will continue to have some life. I have preferred it to the other public poker forums because it is my original home and community. That said, there is very little replenishing blood coming in due to lack of promotion. It may not be worth it for DN to promote it anymore. I've somewhat slowed on following poker media the past year, so I'm also rather unaware about how much he's been in the limelight.

You're awfully needy in this thread Rose. Demanding on what Daniel should do for you, as if he owes you anything. perhaps, if instead of you making co-dependant demands of him..why don't you give him some incentive to contribute to the forum. Maybe if you did something nice for him, he'd be inclined to make more appearances, say hi to you. Maybe if you made him, say.. a nice piece of pottery, he'd feel obligated to chit chat with you.

Derailing again....Yes there are plenty of sleazy low lives in poker but I spent years in the corporate world and more years in the academic world and I've seen as much dishonestly and backstabbing and angle shooting in both those worlds as I have in poker. Many people by nature are lazy ass douchebags who had rather cheat to get ahead than work hard or they just have no talent or ability to get ahead any other way. In the poker world these days cheaters get called out and as a rule once that happens it's pretty much over for them, at least most of the time but in the corporate world they usually get rewarded for their underhanded illegal shit. I live in a small town and I know of several people who have been arrested for embezzlement, fraud and other illegal crap and I know plenty more who've done it gotten away with it, continue to get away with it and profit from it. Moral of the story, people are generally lazy, backstabbing, underhanded sleazebags but plenty are not! The poker world is no worse than any other world. Trust no one and never be disappointed. I do think some legislation or intrastate poker at least will happen, I think it's pretty much inevitable. Too much money for our grubby government to give up. When it does, things like this forum will improve. As for Jesus and Howard, no I didn't know them personally and I was pretty much being facetious. I have no faith in anyone so I'm never disappointed :-)

See, here's where I disagree with you completely. How is it "over" for poker cheats? What has ever come Doyle Brunson's way other than fame and a huge economic windfall? hell, he even dabbled in securities fraud with a fake WPT buy out back in the day (and how he never got fined or charges brought against he for that, I 'll never know). What punishment has Russ Hamiltion, a man people know, for a fact , stole millions from the poker community? THe man still travels the country playing poker. He still hustles golf in vegas. Exactly zero has ever happened to Russ. Daniel himself called Men the Master out, on several occasions, for being caught with tournament chips in a cooler at Foxwoods. What ever happened to men, other than becoming a minor poker celebrity and Poker Cribs visiting his house? What poker rooms has he been banned from? what tournaments is he not allowed to play? Who the hell even remembers that incident anymore? Howard and Jesus might go to jail because they broke the law, but it was securities laws that they broke, not any laws governing poker itself. If two or more players collude against you, nothing legal happens to them. They can get barred from a poker room. Banned from an online account. But another account is a finger tip away. A new poker room is just down the street.. At least, with corporate fraud, embezzlement and the like, there are laws against it. Fines that can be levied. Theoretical punishments. THey may not be enforced, but the laws are there. There's NOTHING illegal about marking a deck of cards at a casino. Nothing illegal about getting on skype with 3 friends and colluding in an online room. No punishments. No consequences. At least, when Doyle was coming up there was at least some threat that an angry oil man was going to come after him with a gun for cheating him. BUt now, there's not even that threat. Hamilton can yuk it up on the golf course with lane flack and no one does shit. He can play 2-5 in a casino, and the only thing these poker geeks will do is embarrass him and then blog about it on 2+2 as if they are some kind of hero. if one of these online pros that Russ stole 100's of K from had an speck of steel in them, Russ would be buried in the desert. But they are all a bunch of pussies, crying about how dishonest AP/UB was, and Russ gets to keep laughing at them all and conning golfing fish. That's what drives me crazy about these 2+2 vigilantes. THey are great at uncovering cheats. Great at exposing them. Great poking holes in stories, researching who people are, great at all kinds of that sort of thing. But you know what they are shit at? Actually doing something about it. So you exposed a cheat. Cool. Now what? He gets a new account and cheats again. Cool. That to me is why I view poker on it's highest levels with such skepticism. There is no consequence for cheating. Public scorn of computer geeks not a deterrent. Having nasty threads written about you is not a deterrent. So, with no real consequences, all we have to protect ourselves from cheats is hoping that the better angels of the human spirit will prevail and that everyone will elect not to cheat. Good luck with that.
