serge 904
Is there any chance the championship might get "reggie bushed" and taken away after allegations of the diving incident come to fruition?

fryer98 30
Are shoulder pads required? It looks like everyone has them on, which is odd for around here. Only one rink I've ever played at required them.
Zach6668 513
Pretty sure they are per the league.

serge 904
So we maybe a little late but my son is starting hockey school this month. He took skating classes this summer and can really skate , which surprised me and the instructor. I decided to put him in the Pickering Hockey School this year where he goes one hour a week and learns the game. He will play some small games and basically be prepared to play in the league next year. So here is the list I got that I have to go buy now.Luckily a close friend has a 8 year old that has outgrown all his equipment so wont have to get too much stuff. What are some of the stuff that I should definetely get new and not go with old stuff??1. C.S.A Approved Helmet & FULL Face Mask.....................CHECK2. Mouth Guard3. Neck Protector4. Shoulder Pads5. Elbow Pads6. Hockey Gloves7. Athletic Support & Cup8. Garter Belt9. Hockey Pants10. Shin Pads11. Skates...........................CHECK12. Hockey Stick...................CHECK

Dubey 1,035
I'd buy 2,3,7 and 8 new, the rest just go with used stuff if you can.
gruven 530
I would check Canadian tire or Walmart... quite often at this time of year, they have beginner packages of equipment- name brand stuff like Bauer and CCM- that are a great value. You get all the body equipment plus a bag and a practice jersey for less than a hundred bucks. I bought a set for Dean last year and was actually surprised at the quality of the gear.... Babying 613
sureAdrian is 6 right? My daughter is 6 too and about 45 lbs. Height I am not sure (I think around 3.5 feet). I got my son that stuff that Chris spoke of when he played at that age. I can check to see if it fits my daughter. If it does, I can drop it off to you on Saturday morning since I am headed to Port Perry (not to the casino but the marina). If it does fit her, I have the shoulder pads, elbow pads, pants, gloves and shin pads. Maybe the bag too.

Registering Adrian is pretty long process..So when you register your kid for hockey , its all done through Hockey Canada and he is on the system for good....Very exciting stuff. I had to say to her, it is too late to register. So we are going to take skating lessons on her tinkerbell skates.
serge 904
i am still new and i have lots of silly questions:- what does he actually wear under the hockey pants.?- do we wash any of the equipment?- do we dress mostly at the rink, or put some stuff on at home? The dressing part we got down to about 10 minutes(without skates)..I am a rookie, i guess i will learn all these things.

The hockey pants is the protection- do we wash any of the equipment? I know people who have equipment professional washed. I however have never wash my equipment. Just air it out.- do we dress mostly at the rink, or put some stuff on at home? The dressing part we got down to about 10 minutes(without skates). I have always dressed at the rink when my son was younger. I just thought it was more comfortable while sitting in the carI am a rookie, i guess i will learn all these things. Zach6668 513
Serge, didn't you get my reply to the equipment washing text? Not that it was super helpful. When I was his age, I wore a sweatpants and sweatsuit under my equipment. No idea what they do now. There were times when I'd forget to chance, and I'd actually wear jeans, lol. Now, I wear literally nothing, although most people wear that dryfit stuff. I wore just a t-shirt under my equipment until a few years ago, but it got too hot, I found.Dressing at home or rink probably doesn't matter, just depends how early you want to get to the rink. Lots of guys used to show up with the bottoms all done, except for skates, of course, and then you just do the skates, shoulder pads, elbow pads, jersey, helmet, gloves at the rink when you get there. Lots of guys left the same way. I'm sure some people even came totally dressed, minus skates, helmet and gloves. Doubt it matters much.
