JoeyJoJo 18
Chad Ford:The Blazers got close to a deal with the Hornets last week that would've sent Andre Miller, Joel Przybilla, Nicolas Batum, Jerryd Bayless and the 22nd pick to NO for Paul before Jeff Bower pulled out of the deal saying that their owner wasn't ready to trade Paul. The trade they made on draft night got them out of the luxury tax, so that's no longer the issue. The issue is whether Paul is now unhappy enough to force a trade. Personally I think the Hornets can do better than that for Paul, but it's a viable deal.Chris Paul, Brandon Roy, and Lamarcus Aldridge isn't a bad big three. And if Oden ever figures it out... JoeyJoJo 18
So the Suns will sign Hakim Warrick and Channing Frye, which means they will have to renounce their rights to Amare, which means they can't arrange a sign and trade. Then the Suns will trade Steve Nash to the Lakers for Odom.Ok, I made that last part up, but what a bloodbath this off-season is. At the end of the day, I think Lebron surprisingly stays in Cleveland, Bosh goes to Chicago, Stoudamire and someone else (Felton?) to Miami, and New York and Jersey get screwed (though I think the Nets can land Carmelo next year). Also, I believe Cleveland will try (unsuccessfully) to trade for Chris Paul. The Nets trade away the contract of Kris Humphries and that gives them enough cap space for another max level free agent to come along with him.
JoeyJoJo 18
I still think Bosh will end up in Miami. I think Lebron is either Chicago or Cleveland. If Chicago strikes out, they need to not panic and rollover their cap space for Carmelo next year. I actually think Melo would be a good fit for Chicago.
CaneBrain 95
JJJ, like that point on the bulls. Melo is great for them. Bob, if that is true (and seriously how many "done deals" have we heard), Amare is a bigger jackass than I thought. What a terrible idea for him unless Lebron goes too.I can't see Lebron playing in f-ing Newark for two years.
GWCGWC 83
I'll be very disappointed if Melo doesn't sign an extension and becomes a free agent next year.

Plus the Nets have some pretty decent pieces in place already player wise. I just have a feeling about LeBron and the Nets nothing more than that.Interesting article on the fact that the amount of money that teams have available to spend on players is far more than the number of players who are worth that money which is going to lead to a huge number of stupid contracts as we're already seeing.http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/page/di...1/seller-market
JoeyJoJo 18
I read that earlier; good stuff. Why do we think the Nets have decent pieces in place? They were on pace almost all year to set the record for fewest wins in a season ever. There's nothing decent about that. Devin Harris and Brook Lopez seem like decent pieces because the rest of the Nets were such a disaster and somebody had to get the points and rebounds, right?

Brook Lopez is actually really good, very solid center. So that means the Nets are above average or better at the 1 and the 5 which are the hardest positions to fill. So that is pretty good. Otherwise, their roster is a disaster.
JoeyJoJo 18
Wade taking second meeting with Chicago tonight, this time with his agent. That has to really scare Miami fans and probably make Cleveland fans a little more hopeful.

FCP Bob 1,311
How big a disaster for the Heat will it be if Wade leaves ?http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5348670CHICAGO -- Dwyane Wade is leaning toward committing to the Chicago Bulls, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com's Chad Ford on Friday.According to the source, Wade requested a second meeting with Bulls shortly after the 2006 NBA Finals MVP spent more than two hours getting wooed by the New York Knicks at a downtown Chicago hotel Friday morning. The source stressed that Wade needed the meeting to clarify issues around signing with the Bulls. If Wade were to agree to join the Bulls, it could clear the way for fellow free-agent superstars Chris Bosh or LeBron James to join Wade in Chicago.

I am stunned by this. Wade was the one guy everyone agreed would not bail because he has already won a ring in Miami, Pat Riley is good, and they have money to build a good team around him even if they need a few minimum guys. I still don't believe Wade would show this little loyalty to a franchise that got him a championship unlike Lebron or Bosh or Melo. But I guess I have to accept this might happen. Sucks. JoeyJoJo 18
Also, William Wesley (aka “World Wide Wes”), who was part of LeBron's team, has been removed from the discussions.Hmm, I wonder if there was somebody around here saying that Lebron wouldn't want Wes doing all this talking.Yes, I'm making assumptions again, but I feel better about my position. keith crime 8
Nah, he's far too efficient a scorer.yeah with Steve Nash - big scoring numbers - no defense - history of injury - questionable head - sounds like a drunk Isaiah fantasy pick to melol at Lebron announcing in a 1 hour ESPN special - at least he's giving the money to charity - wtf are they going to do for the first 55 minutes? Kiss his ass?
