OK, I wasn't going to say anything when the patient sat their talking during her MRI scan, or when functional MRI results came up in real time on the monitor. All of that is excusable since it serves the show. But then they show colored blobs in the goddamned temporal lobe and start talking about how her lateral frontal cortex/broca's area is activating! Who the hell is consulting for this show, and why isn't it me?!?
This rant deserves a follow-up after last night's episode. When House first mentioned that they were going to be doing 'cognitive pattern analysis' I knew I was going to be in for a ride, as this is specifically what I have been working on for the last year or so. His team argued that they were 50 years away from being able to do this (probably quite accurate), so then they did it anyway. That's like saying "hey, we are a good 50 years from having a working time machine, but let's just pop in and say hi to Napolean anyways!"I was more outraged at the ridiculousness of it at the time, but thinking back now I suppose its not that big of a stretch. The fact is we can do quite well in reading what images are going on in people's minds if we have a limited set to choose from. For instance, I can train my algorithm to tell the difference between cars, cows, and scissors, and then I can tell with very high accuracy which one you are thinking of. But I can't just recreate any random visual scene in real time of

you having sex with your boyfriend's father.

And I certainly can't do it with a few random EEG leads hanging from the ceiling. I am convinced more than ever that I should be consulting for this show. All that aside, I was happy with the ending with House at his new Wilson-provided organ.

quite a good episode. I enjoyed all the pairings. They spent the correct amount of time with each of them. There wasn't really much more we could've seen from any of them. Any less and we would've missed out on something.

I hated it.Over the top contrived. "Oh, I just happen to have some pills, wanna get high?"The House & Patient segment was weak. Chase and Cameron even weaker. Thirteen and Wilson was "cute" and anchored the episode as a bunch of segments of Truth & Dare. If you didn't know that Chase and Cameron were going to sign the Divorce Agreement AND sleep together before leaving that room... well, I thought it was obvious and predictable.I was planning on bumping this thread to rant about what I felt was a poor episode. I felt that the acting was stiff and then I noticed who directed this episode.

They're doctors, it's not so unbelievable that one would happen to have some pills. They're human beings, it's not so unbelievable that they'd want to get a little high while stuck in a lockdown.I do think they could have made the scenes with the two of them much, much funnier. I mean...calling each other "dude" and chasing each other around the room...yeah, they missed out on what could have been some really fun interactions.

Maybe it was predictable, but it's not like every storyline of every episode has to have twists and turns. I think the confrontation had to happen sooner or later...the way their relationship ended just didn't make any sense. At least they closed that chapter.I do agree that the scenes with House and The Guy from The River Wild were pretty weak. I still really like the show for the most part, but I'm so sick of patients who, after knowing House for all of 30 seconds, can cut to the core of why he says and does anything and everything.

The Guy from The River Wild
You mean the president of Marshall University?I thought the episode was just OK. I understand why they want to mix it up, but I really prefer the diagnostic mystery episodes. Or if they aren't about that, and they are just about House's character, that's ok too. I'm just not so interested in watching Cuddy solve a crime or the romance/friendship plots between the supporting actors.

How many is enough. Honestly curious about this.
It's not how many, it's how much. Meds, as I'm sure you know, can come in different dosages...I think that vicodin is typically 500mg, but most of that is the paracetamol (acetominophen (tylenol)) with only a small percentage being hydrocodone (the opiate that gives the fun effects). Two vicodin, 1000mg, is on the high end of a regular dose, so I'm guessing that four of them at once would really fuck up (in a good way) the average person without any serious side effects, but that's a complete guess.

I took 6 within 3 hours of each other the other night because of my ankle. Vicodin doesnt do anything for me usually but I needed the pain to be gone, so that combined with two 800mg IBU didn't really do anything.Pretty sure I am immune to vicodin. My wife then got pissed I took her vicodin.

I am 76.4% positive that the jump the shark moment was when Foreman temporarily blinded 13 by screwing with her Huntington's disease trial.
house it the only show that manages to jump the shark every third episode and still be worth watching.

When I saw "wow" I also thought "Dang, sorry I missed the episode" so I found a Synopsis of it and then thought "Is that it?" It didn't sound that wowrrific.

I really, really liked the directing. I'd heard they shot the finale with a DSLR, maybe a bit of that in this episode as well. One of my all-time favorite episodes.

I liked the episode...the finale should be interesting. You know who evolved into an awesome character over the years? Chase. I feel like he was incredibly boring at first and then when they tried to make him more 3 dimensional it came off as too artificial, but all of a sudden (after the dictator-killing and wife-losing crap was over) he seems to make most scenes he's involved in...better.

I have to admit I accidentally opened this thread before I saw the episode and thought someone had died or House snapped and bashed Andre Braugher's headit was a good episode though (the guy who writes the conversation posts likes the episode where there's imaginary interruptions in imaginary situations?)I also later almost responded to a Strategy hockey post with "... wow." because well yea
