digitalmonkey 929
Congrats Zach...great season. This league is all about timing. Injuries at the wrong time can kill you. And of course Tavares goes about 20 games without a goal and scores last night.
Zach6668 513
Congrats Zach...great season. This league is all about timing. Injuries at the wrong time can kill you. And of course Tavares goes about 20 games without a goal and scores last night.Yeah, lol.The biggest thing was just my lineups in the playoffs. They weren't good enough. They weren't a reflection of the talent on my team. I don't know if that's all luck, though. I could have planned better and had players who played more playoff games, maybe. In order of their pool points per game, which was last calculated just before the playoffs:(In 6 playoff games, each player appeared:)Ilya Kovalchuk - 2 gamesBrad Richards - 3 gamesAles Hemsky - 0 games (injured)Langenbrunner - 2 gamesHejduk - 2 games (injured for 2 more)McDonald - 3 gamesStillman - 4 gamesStafford - 2 games (injured for 1 more)Chimera - 3 gamesCooke - 3 gamesRegin - 2 gamesAsham - 3 gamesMoss - 3 gamesArtyukhin - 1 gameBegin, Talbot, Wallin, Chipchura did not play any games. It's just annoying that I had to go so deep into my reserve type guys for almost every game. Game 1, I had very close to my best lineup, missing only Hejduk and Hemsky out of my top 6 forwards. After that, I was lucky to get 3 of my top 8 guys. Basically, I consider the top 8 there, my go-to guys, except maybe Stafford who has disappointed this season. After that it's a drop off, but I should be fine with one or two of them in a game if necessary.I ended up with a distribution of:Game 1 - 6 / 0Game 2 - 4 / 2Game 3 - 3 / 3Game 4 - 4 / 2Game 5 - 2 / 4Game 6 - 2 / 4And game 7 wouldn't have been much better than game 5 or 6.It doesn't look as bad as I thought, but even then, I'm missing my top end guys the most. Kovy, Richards, Hemsky.Oh well, I will have mostly the same team next season, probably, so we'll see if I get luckier with the playoff scheduling. Or, it could be time to sell Kovalchuk while his contract is still decent and get a big return to make my team a bit deeper, or better set for the future. Time will tell. It's been an incredibly fun first season, though, and I'm glad I got a chance to get into this league.
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
good season Zach. tough timing. I have to say, you, Ingmen and Big M's all in 1 division (mine!), is scary. And Greaseballs is not bad either.

strategy 4
any chance the AHL is posting their draft results, whenever that may be? I want to compile where everyone was taken in the different leagues.

strategy 4
I am not sure...I think I'll just make a list of everyone who was drafted in all three leagues, then compare from there. will be interesting to see whether the FCHL2+AHL "borrow" from the research us GMs did for the FCHL draft. Zach6668 513
Congrats to Sean Couturier who played his 10th game of the season last night, meaning he should be sticking with the Flyers full time. He joins Michael Grabner as the only full-time NHLers on the Shortstackers' farm team. While it was expected, I'm not sure it works out particularly well for our rebuilding timelines, because he'll probably be a forced call-up as he enters his 3rd season, and my team will probably still be awful, and he may not have developed his offensive game by then, but it's tough to predict with all of the rule changes in the AHL, how quickly my rebuild will take.
