Jindal is good, and in 4 years will be far more experienced than Obama is now, but I still think its too soon for him.
I wonder if he was still a Hindu and hadn't converted to being a Catholic if he could have been elected to anything ?From what I've seen of him there's no doubt you'll be seeing a lot more of him as he is a smart guy and there's always a need for smart people in politics.

Yes, this is horrible, this post.

Turns out I'd do, what I've always done, cash farm subsidy checks and compulsively masturbate.

The majority didn't vote against him. The majority stayed home.   The GOP candidate had less votes in 2016 than in 2012 or 2008, when they lost both times.   Dems (and repubs) just HATED Hillar

I am Canadian. This is what is known as a 'great place to start'.Obama's speech in Grant park was amazing. The USA is in great hands. This is a guy I think can deliver on every single promise he made in this campain.
this will never happen.......with any president in office

You know, and I have absolutely nothing to back this up, other than bs,but bare with me...But, I don't think American's are particularly prejudiced against Hindu's, at least the religion. Muslims, sure, Jews, you bet.. but Hindus.. I doubt Americans have much opinion on it, other than amusement and considering it a novelty. I'm sure there's a great deal of ignorance about the religion ( particularly, since it's more of group of religious traditions, rather than one cohesive belief system), but I don't think there is any particular hate, either. America isn't like Great Brittan, with it's large indian minority ( and thus, large amount of racial tension with them). I think being a (vocal) atheist would hurt you more than being a hindu. But, I could be giving conservative christian voters too much credit, here.My anecdotal evidence of this is my father. My dad, is pretty racist. And he's pretty open about it to. He hates pretty much every minority group, from natives to blacks to mexicans to Southeast asians... what ever. Talks sht about them all. But, every single indian he's ever known, worked with, been his doctor, he absolutely loves. Sure, it's in a condescending love of them, like he thinks they are cute and funny, but that's much better than the prejudice he harbors for other races.

That's because they are cute and funny. When I waited tables they would order, to a man, without fail,"Steak and lobsters, baked potato with butters and sour creams", said exactly like that, and then leave a tip that equaled less than dick. I have some serious injun hating cowboy in my blood though so I always called it even. Nobody has it worse in my mind than the Indian people, it's not even close.

I have no idea what you just said, right here, in this post. No idea.

Well, LMD, normally your writing is pretty clear if profane. But this I have to go along with the other, doesn't make any sense. In one paragraph it's pretty clear you're talking about east Indians but in the other I'm not too sure. It sounds like you're talking about Native Americans there. But even then it's hard to tell what you're point is.

By the time the American media got done "describing" the Hindu faith to the semi-literate masses, I don't think even Ganesha would recognize it.I lived too long in New Jersey to have anything but love for Indians. I got married in an Indian sari, one of my best friends is married to an Indian woman, and when I moved to rural Virginia, I picked my eye doctor because she was the only one named Patel in the whole phone book.

yeah, I went to college with too many indians, there were probably close to 10 times as many South Asians in my university than there were african americans. I love the food, the culture, even classical sitar music. Hell, my first college blowjob was from a Patel, and that's not the type of bond a guy forgets. Easily my favorite non-white ethnic group, more than even the Vietnamese. I have a strongly pro-Indian bias.

I am an indo-phile too. I actually spent several years studying sitar under one of the greats. Married an indian girl too, although her family are christians from kerala so they don't do a lot of the cool hindu stuff and for some reason she is the only indian woman who never learned how to cook indian food. :club:

a look back at some quotes right after election day, an interesting retrospective

The Democrats have really gotten everything they wanted. President. With a decent voter mandate it looks like. Bunch of pickups in house and senate. More governors. More state legislature. (They can gerrymander in 2010 if they wish)Now, is the Dems one big chance to show what they can do. Be careful what you wish for.....if they blow it the GOP will have a field day for decades.
The gravest mistake they could possibly make is to delude themselves into believing that this was a mandate on leftist politics and that they now have political capital to "Roosevelt up" America. This was unquestionably a vote AGAINST a total disgrace of a Republican party that has been ****ing up America for the past 6 years. It was not a vote "for" traditional Democratic politics.
A lot may disagree, but I've always viewed Obama as a centrist in many ways. I have always tended toward Democrats, but the reason that I became excited about Obama was because I perceived him to be a very rational and thoughtful man. I believe, and now it is up to him to prove to me one way or another, that he will use his wisdom and reason to make the best decisions for America, and not for some abstract concept of liberalism.
I agree. He is far more rational and thoughtful a man than most candidates in recent memory. Still, there is no escaping the fact that his philosophical framework is hard, hard left and even though he may pay lip service to "centrism", there's pretty much no argument about what kind of leopard lies beneath his carefully tailored spots.
Reverend Wright wanted it, now he's got it. God has damned America.Let the 2012 Presidential campaign begin. As the move to the left inevitably crashes and burns the economy, we can look forward to a proper Republican candidate in 2012 or perhaps even 2016. One who espouses proper laissez-faire capitalism and removal of an oppressive government from our daily lives. But until then: A societal cancer has metastasized this evening. We can only watch in horror as the train leaves the tracks and careens and cascades down the mountainside, rewarding the lazy and the mediocre at the expense of those with talent and drive. Who will now, by necessity, waste valuable time focusing their energies on protecting what is rightfully theirs through creative legal and economic means. I'm already devising my own personal strategies. To all the Republicans who allowed rampant statism and big government at the expense of abandoned and forgotten philosophical principles: The chickens are home, roosting all over the place and defecating in every nook and cranny of the homestead. You tried to imitate the Democrats, but the REAL collectivists are now here and they have the power and you DO NOT. Such is the fate of those who forget their mandate and neglect the principles that makes them genuinely different than the opposition. The "me-too" Democratic Republicans are TRASHED, and I for one will enjoy the writhing corpse over the next few days.

A look back at interesting quotes after the election Part 2

You laugh big d, but it can be a slippery slope. The fact that over half of our country have ignored the socialist voting record, extremist associates and fascists rants is beyond me.I am not saying that Obama = Hitler. I am saying that policies that he could put in motion could start taking away rights, that if a party grabs a hold of, over the course of a few elections could really gain momentum. Obama is on record as saying the constitution is an imperfect document and that he wants to make changes to it.
hate to break it to you but there's no such thing as the tooth fairy, santa claus, or radical socialist agendas.

And for those who are so blind to think that he will govern as a centrist, he's offered Rahm Emanuel chief of staff. Not that that was ever in question, just the first of many debts he owes the far left Chicago political machine.
I just read this and he doesn't seem to be far left and had a lot of experience in the Clinton Administration that would help a Chief of Staff.http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Rahm_Emanuel
I disagree. His core values are socialist. Have you even read his books?

See? I'm prescient 85. Beware! Also, I love the Jindal stuff at the top of the page. He seems all cute and cuddly until you find out he wrote a law review article about the time he and some prayer buddies performed an exorcism on an unwilling girl in college. He might be crazier than Bachmann....just better at hiding it.

Well, I'll respond to him then and pretend that it's you.It seems to me then "Fully supporting" is a bunch of bullshit, where you get to say that you fully support the president you get to mock liberals for not having the same amount of respect as the president, but you also get to call the president any disrespectful thing you want, because you don't actually have to do anything to "fully support" besides say it. I didn't say he said obama was hitler, I said he compared him to hitler, and he certainly did that. I also do not except a limited definition of fascism, fascism involves specific philosophical positions, none which he qualifies for. Using it in any other way, its hyperbole and insult. I can decide to call McCain a faggot, and say " well, what I mean by faggot is an old man from arizona " and it doesn't mean that's what the word means, or that it my definition of it should be respected. Calling someone a fascist or comparing them to hitler is the most fear mongering, reactionary thing you can do. Plenty of liberals did it when describing bush and his policies, and they were absolutely wrong to do it. But one thing they weren't doing, is being "respectful". And again, I don't know how, if you really think someone is a fascist ( and aren't just using the word as an insulting term to belittle the man), how you can "support" him, and support the office. If Mussolini was elected president, I wouldn't be like " oh well, you know, he's a fascist and everything, but he's the president now, so we need to all come together and support him. What I probably would do instead is flee the country.

Turns out I'd do, what I've always done, cash farm subsidy checks and compulsively masturbate.

It's funny looking back 8 years ago, at all the doom and gloom, the sky is falling predictions the right made about the incoming Obama presidency. I sure hope in 4-8 years we can look back on the 2016 Election thread, and laugh at all the "sky is falling" predictions the left is making about Trump

8 years ago we were still in the middle of the great recession so a lot of anxiety wasn't too crazy.

Now the economy is actually is good shape but the new President is crazy so a lot of anxiety should be expected.

The people who I follow with the most concern about Trump are actually not lefties but sane never-Trump Republicans. They're familiar with who the Trump team actually are and it scares the shit out of them, especially the foreign policy experts and the honest economics and finance people who know that the combination of standard tax cuts for the rich combined with Trump's anti-trade bias will be bad for the economy overall.

Don't be too hopeful. Democrats and Republicans are not at all the same. Almost no one thought that W would possibly be as bad as he turned out to be. Also, Obama had fanatical opposition from Republicans and couldn't do much for 6 of the 8 years without the House. In the first 2 years Obama made the huge mistake of trying to cooperate with Republicans. Trump is starting off with control of everything and won't even pretend to listen to the majority that voted against him.

Dems (and repubs) just HATED Hillary, and chose to accept Trump rather than bother leaving their house for a few minutes.
