Dearborn is the largest Middle Eastern community in the US. I was in the Secretary of State line and was the ony white guy and everyone else was not. The only English I heard was that of the Employees. All around me arabic was being used and it seriously annoyed the fuck out of me. Here is a link to a great 2p2 thread that just popped up in the past two days, and one of the posters goes into semi detail as to how to get some private tours at some of the smaller and really good wineries. I think teh Kosta Browne would be considered semi cult. THey usually produce slightly over 1K cases a year for each of their different pinots, but sell mostly to resturaunts and those on their mailing list. I'm on the waiting list for purchasing for this round of buying, so hopefully I can get my hands on a half case of their Russian River valley that I put myself down for incase someone doesn't want any. RP and WS have been pimping them big time, so I have no doubt that their prices are gonna go way up soon, as their Pinots are pretty damn affordable right now in the 45-55 range. I've been looking all over the chicago area to find a place that carries it, but haven't had much luck so far. TCWC, Binny's, and Sams don't carry it, and when I looked on Kosta Browne's site, there is a distributor in the chicago area, but I don't know if its a wine store or just a big warehouse Link to post Share on other sites

Not only cheap and easy to do, its addicting to find just the right mixture of fruits and combinations. My personal favorite is peach and apple.I dont ferment much anymore, but I just used a five gallon water bottle from the grocery store and the ferment lock was surgical tubing thru a cork.I used regular bread yeast at first, but switched to wine yeast from a local beer brewing supply store after that. I couldnt tell any difference though.The alc% seems to be much higher in the home-made jack for some reason, even though the % shouldnt be much higher than 13.... its certanly a different buzz.Plus its kinda cool to open up the door (keep it in a dark place) and watch the bubbles flow.I'll post a tutorial for those that are interested....
