can i ask why you would rent an apartment for a year if you can project profits of 10k a month?

God you're sick. Full ring or short handed btw?I almost reached my goals from october so I'm happy.Came back from a 2.5k loss and am at a healthy br of $3700 againBeating the 3/6 games for 1.76bb, altho I only put in 6,000 hands, and 2500 of it came from last night, hahagoal for november: I'd like to make $4,000 and have a br of $8,000. Play a 1 or 2 Sunday Million tourneys @ stars. But basically, I'd like to be able to 4-6 table 5/10 for a 1.5+bb rate.

then can i ask another questionhas the thought of getting a loan to buy some property somewhere exotic/tropical ever crossed your mind?think of it this way. lets say you are now rent free since u payed in full. You make 5k a month just to be really fair. You have a few payments, for food, car insurance and fun.. you're still easily sitting with 3k a month in profit, turn that into a guess of 30k profit for the year of disposable income, which 50% could go into your roll to jump limits, and the other 50 would have been paying down some property somewhere that you can A-sell, B- eventually move too. and C- use as asset

October Results:Net Profit: - $670Interestingly, PT shows a profit of $580 in cash games for the month, playing only ~7000 hands, from 0.5/1 to 5/10 LHE and 25 to 200 NL.That means that I'm down almost $1250 in the rest, which is probably 95% tournament buyins, and the rest being staking ventures.Tournaments for me clearly sucked this month, as it took me until the last week of the month to even cash in one. In the end, I managed to cash in a few, including a 10th place finish in a $11 MTT, which was the sickest beat ever, in terms of timing, when my above average stacked AA ran into the chip leaders massive Q6 soooted all in on a rainbow board of T6x and runner runner flushed me.I also FT'ed a 180 man at the end of the month, but was short stacked and went out 9th when my CO open raise of A6s ran into the buttons AK.So, in all, I didn't play as many hands of cash games as I would have liked, and I also did very poorly in the MTT's I played in their place.********************November Goals:Go back to focussing on cash games, probably $100 NL for now. I'd like to have a nice $4000 month or so, if I can stop skimming for a bit, and move up to $200 NL at some point. I'd like to get in maybe 20k hands.I would also still like to play some MTTs as I feel I definitely have some game, and I'm just like one race (or AA vs Q6 holding up) away from a nice score. Also, I bought the 8gb Ipod with my FPPs, and I'm already back up to almost 9000, so my new goal for that is a new monitor, either the 20" for 36000, or I may go all out and wait for the 24" for 68000.Edited to add, starting BR = $830.Anyways, I'm glad October is gone, and I look forward to running well in November.Good luck all.Oh, one more goal, find somewhere to sleep at night, as apparently I got kicked out of my house.....loooooooool- Zach

paying rent is not as big of a deal as most people think. in most cases, its actually cheaper, since the equity you gain by paying interest on a mortgage or other loan does not make up for how much higher mortgage/loan payments are than rent.

are you forgetting about appreciation?and tax breaks?if you'll be in the house more than N (where N is somewhere around 5 yrs) a house is cheaper in the long run..well..depends on market, I guess.

my mother wouldn't let me back in the house drunk one time.I slept in car...and it was realy cold.I moved out soon.
Well, it was weird. We had a talk about how I wasn't into school and everything the day before, and I was pretty sure I told her I was still playing poker, and she didn't seem to care, then the next day, she tells me she's cancelling the internet, because she doesn't believe that I'm not playing, so I'm like wtf, first of all, I'm in University, I NEED the internet, secondly, I told her I was playin the other day. So she starts flipping out, and naturally we argue, and I get the boot.I'm not overly upset about it. I don't really have the available cash to get my own place though, and that is the only problem. So I have no idea wtf I'm going to do. I can find a place to sleep at night, without a problem, but it'll be pretty annoying in the long run.Oh well, playin it by ear.- Zach

OctoberOnline: $2,283.50 in 30k hands mostly at $50NL.Live play I made about $1000 or so. Every time I amassed a large chip stack live, I lost most, if not all of it on a bad beat, so my live winnings could have been in the $5k range if poker wasn't... uhh, poker.November: I start a new job so I'll go conservative with 25k hands and $2,000 since I'm mostly playing $100NL now.

How about grandparents? You clearly know someone who can spare a couch for a few nights. Why cant you sleep at a friends just because they live at their parents? I know a lot of my friends parents well enough that they wouldnt mind at all. They'd probably insist... though i honestly cant ever see myself in this position. My parents are trying to convince me to NOT move out.

OK, now that November's going well, I'm finally not too embarrassed to post my October $ graph. The massive downswing was from tilting at 50/100 half drunk followed by taking $1500 to 25/50 NL.completeoctoberub7.jpgNovember's going awesome so far though:nov1pz0.jpgHere it is in BB form, in case you thought I was still playing 50/100 or something:nov1bbud0.jpg

No worries. I'm doing fine. That was the only real tilt session I've had in months, and I've got over 300 BB at the level I'm playing now (30/60). With the winrate I've been averaging lately, that 10K will be a distant memory in no time.
